Topic: Tavastia, Finland, 21-22 May 2010

I had an absolute blast at both Joe's gigs in Finland at the Tavastia club. I wasn't sure how he felt about us eager fans and our cameras (especially amateur photographs like me) so I was planning to just enjoy the music since at his last gig here in Finland we couldn't take pictures. This time though apparently it was okay and I went a bit overboard big_smile hope you guys enjoy these:

Hopefully I was able to capture the sheer awesomeness and emotional playing that he displayed throughout both gigs. I was pretty much in heaven the whole time and hope other fans will enjoy these as much as I enjoyed taking them. Sometimes it's hard to capture the emotion of a gig on "film" but I think some of the shots I took nailed what at least I felt I saw on stage.

Beautiful pictures, indeed!  What were you using for a camera?  Welcome to the forum.

"There's a lot of people that are in so much of a hurry to be, I guess, to be famous or that they don't want to take the time to learn to play and do all that. They'd rather just knock it down off a computer and maybe get on a game show and get famous..That's fine if that's what you want to do.

Thanks you guys. Appreciate the positive feedback. I used a Canon 30D with a simple 50mm f/1.8 prime lens and NO flash. I took out the colors on purpose and went with the duotone instead for dramatic effect.

Joe is such an expressive performer and he was SO close to the edge of the stage a lot of the time (I was in the front row) that it just screamed for closeups like the ones I took. I think this is one of my favorites. Just for the intense look as he's playing. He mentioned on Twitter that it was a sweaty performance and you can see it in that big_smile

What a great shot. Hard at work and totally into his groove! He takes no prisoners and never leaves the fans not knowing he gave his best! That goes for the rest of the band too.
