Topic: New Y&T disc- Facemelter

Well, it's been quite a while between Y&T albums, but the boys from the bay area are releasing "Facemelter" tomorrow. Many Californians and Europeans know this band, but many others are not familiar. One thing most of us have in common on this site is that we enjoy guitarists that can and are willing to shred freely! I have recently received my advance copy of the new disc-"FACEMELTER". It does not disappoint. The disc starts off typically Y&T with the first half of the album chugging along at a nice moderate rock clip punctuated by Dave Meniketti shredding solos. Then we get a huge ballad with even more shredding, then the last 5 tunes on the disc pull out all the stops as they pick up the tempo and melt face. If you are not familiar with these guys, think Chickenfoot, Damn Yankees, Sammy hagar, Van Halen....very California hair pop metal....so if you like that sort of thing, give this new Y&T a try. I would love to know what the Joe fans have to say about it. If you don't like this genre, then avoid it, because it IS the epitomy of California hair rock at it's finest!!

Re: New Y&T disc- Facemelter

So today I have the San Francisco rock station on (The Bone....better known to the locals as KRQR-The Rocker) and Phil Kennemore, Y&T's bass player, is the guest DJ. He spins 2 tracks off the new CD and they both ROOOOOOCCCCKKKKKKKK. One was "Shine On" and the other was "I'm Coming Home."

I'm picking up this disc this weekend or as soon as I can

Oh yeah,........ Planet Rock is playing "Long Live Rock n Roll".......Long Live DIO!!!!

Rand Man you're jokin' around right? 107.7 The Bone's call letters are the legendary KSAN. The old Roqr, KRQR morphed into KALC, or "Alice" or as I call it the "Lilith" station.....not that there's anything wrong with that. A whole lotta BUZZZZZZZZ about the new Y&T around the Bay. I wonder if Stef was called in on this one at all?

Re: New Y&T disc- Facemelter

You guys will not be disappointed....I have spent the better part of the last 3 days immersed in Dave's ridiculous solo's on this disc. This is a great guitar album... if you like the genre!!

Re: New Y&T disc- Facemelter

I will check this cd out. I love Y&T - saw them on the Monsters Of Rock tour in 2003 with Whitesnake and Gary Moore. They were fantastic. I wish they would tour Australia.

Re: New Y&T disc- Facemelter

UHHH....Murfdog where possible....on the Y&T site I am under Murfbud because there was a problem with the other password....

Re: New Y&T disc- Facemelter

Well that's funny, I posted a reply to this last week only not see it today. What I said was.

AWESOME ALBUM.......way better than I thought it was going to be and it's still growing on me. Dave is off the hook with the solo's and some of the intros are fantastic. Only 1 downer for me "Hot Shot".

Their best album? Not in my book, that will always be EARTHSHAKER, but it ranks up there with some of thier best work ever.
