I am really looking for a nice smooth Marshall plexi type sound. I'm getting close with the class 5 and ocd & fulldrive. Just looking for that last 10%.

Do youself a favor and check out the Fargen Mini Plex if you ever desire a low wattage Plexi amp in a small package.  Ben Fargen is a great builder and that amp is the closest I've ever been to a true plexi tone at low volumes.  VERY smooth and VERY warm.  I was extremely impressed and keep in mind this was all with a Tele.  Pretty warm even with a bright guitar like that.

Cheers stratpaulguy I'll check them out. I also found a company English valve amps and they do a 2 watt plexi, The cornell plexi 7 is looking pretty good to me at the minute. Like the power selection taking it from 7 to 1 then 1/4 of a watt.

I've been there before and probably will again at some point for a 62 reissue telecaster, but for now I am over the moon. I'll see if I can get some pics up over the weekend of me lovely DGT.

Re: GAS Cured?

So the class 5 stays. After an hour with the DGT, Class 5, Fulltone OCD & Fulldrive. Boss DD3 & 63 fender reverb (modelled pedal not the real thing). This is the best sounding rig I have had in a long time. The class 5 is going back next week to get the rattle fixed then should be good as new. Like the dick that I am I banged the headstock on the ceiling light showing off my DGT to a friend (Still fuming) Normally I wouldn;t care about a chip but this is making me made. Going to see if the local guitar wizard can patch it up for me.

I have honestly said that to my other half. It fell on deaf ears.

I explained it as an Em/Bm octave thing. The ears were still deaf.

I gotta have a les paul and a strat that are both tuned down a half step, so I dont have to retune!  wink

Oh yes - I forgot.

.....................I need THAT ONE too because I have to have a guitar set up for slide. Better make it 2. One for standard and one for open tuning.

OK, but let's not oversimplify this. Non-guitar-playing readers (e.g. my wife - hallo mein Spätzle smile) might get a wrong impression!

There are various open tunings: open D, open E, open G, open A and many others. So even if you use a capo (not an ideal situation because the capo might break in the middle of the song) you still need at least one guitar for open D/E and one for open G/A.
Then there are acoustic guitars - regular ones and resonator guitars (with wooden bodies and others with metal bodies). And there are also electric resonator guitars (you wouldn't want me to play Joe's "The River" on an acoustic guitar, would you?).

But I don't want to go into too much detail here...

By the way: scientists have found proof that GAS can be cured. It's just a matter of getting all the gear you need.
