Where you have Bridge, should be Steal your Heart Away

Re: Lexington, KY April 30, 2010

Last nights Lexington show was nothing short of SMOKIN! Third row seats didnt hurt either. The band was dead on and the sound was great. I dont notice drummers very often but this young guy was a real standout. Joe absolutely works his tail off. Not much chit chat, no breaks, just total in your face, amazing display of musicianship. I have never seen such a range of emotions come out of a guitar. Just incredible. As a guitar player I am inspired and discouraged. Discouaraged because until last night I obviously had no idea what a volume knob can do. I took a buddy with me who never heard of JB until a few days ago. He's totally hooked and wants to go to the Huntington show. I said, "You get tickets, Im with ya." Thanks all for an amazing show.

Welcome to the forum shpedly. You've got the bug now. Start filling out the back Joecatalog and catch up to the past. Since you're a player, check out the gear section and those boys will be a wealth of knowledge. What got you interested in Joe's music?

Re: Lexington, KY April 30, 2010

RickB, Thanks for the welcome. What got me interested in Joe’s music? Well, I'm more than a little embarrassed to tell the story, but here goes. I'm a big Clapton, SRV, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray fan. Its what I like to hear and play. I guess I was just one of those guys that thought there hasn’t been any decent music written in the past ten years. Never listen to radio and never read guitar mags. 6 months ago, I'm working on a customer’s car, sitting in the drivers seat, waiting for the laptop to fire up. On the passenger seat is very large CD folder laying open. Its all JB. I'm thinking, "JB, who the heck is that?" So being a diehard blues guy, the Blues Deluxe label catches my eye. I'm going to be scanning and programming this car for a while, so I put Blues Deluxe into the dash. You Upset Me Baby comes on and I’m thinking, this is pretty good. Burning Hell is next and I’m getting really interested. Then I get to the middle of Blues Deluxe, with the screaming solo and I’m like, “Who in the hell is this guy!”. I eject the CD and look at the label, 2003??!! What! I must be living under a rock to not have heard of this. So the next day I order every CD, the Albert Hall DVD and watch everything I can on YouTube.  3 days before the Lexington show, I’m wondering if he ever plays anywhere close to here and Google tour dates. I cannot believe my eyes. April 30, Lexington Ky! What are the odds of that? Get on Ebay and pay a guy a boatload for third row. Best money I have spent in a long time to say the least. So there you go, the stars were in perfect alignment, and I found and saw JB by almost freak accident. I’m happy and so is my Les Paul Classic Premium Plus that has being gathering dust for far to long.

Will the unnamed Bonaholic whose car you worked on please step forward and lay claim to another conversion? smile Joe works in mysterious ways.  cool
That's a great story shpedly. Many here, including me, have accidentally tripped over JB and wondered what rock they had been living under.

My advice? Don't ask, don't tell, let the converts do the talking! Welcome shpedly, not one thing to be embarrassed about in that story, not even hijacking the music, it was likely expected you'd at least L roll cool K!

3 Days sounds about right! What were the Odds???!!!
HAH! About the same as JeffDeb in MoJoeHio getting to hear Steal Your Heart Away!!!
The coinkydink factor surrounding Joe Bonamassa is cosmologically off the star charts.  Things happen for a reason and we have these beliefs more will happen soon.  Sounds like you took someone "down" with you!

Amazing show!  My fourth time seeing Joe and the best so far.  Joe really enjoys what he does and it showed at this show.  The extended intro of Sloe Gin was, well no words for it, extremely dynamic.  I noticed a few licks added to joes endless supply.  One reminded me of something that I see Paul Gilbert playing.  The newest solo to heartaches is a punch to the heart.  The sound, joes voice, and the rest of the band...perfect.

Maybe it was my car  big_smile I made it to the 4-30-10 show, too and it was amazing. I literally spent my last dime to get my ticket, but it was worth it. Joe inspires the hell out of me. Can't wait to see him again. I couldn't buy anything after the show. I was pissed! Couldn't even get a key chain.
