Topic: Class 5 amp renamed the JB?

Hey guys,

I recently aquired a Marshall Class 5 amp.  I LOVE IT!!!  Now, I know some of you will say that it's too small at only 5 watts.  But man, for me as an amp for my music room and I have even used it out mic'd through a pa.  Let me tell you, this thing rocks!  Put a tube screamer with it and you have a nice sounding amp that comes close to Joe's sound.  So, here's what I am suggesting.  I think they should rename the class 5, the Joe Bonamassa.  smile  What are you thoughts?

If you can find one, get one!!  It's a great amp at $400.  Get's great tone, takes pedals very well, especially a tube screamer.  Of course, I can't play like Joe, but with this amp, I can every now and then stumble upon a note that makes think I sound like him.  smile  It is good and loud to for a 5 watt amp.  In my music room at home, I usually keep it on 4-5 and it is plenty loud for there.  When I play out, I put a mic in front of it and it's aces!!  Use the volume on your guitar for cleaner sounds.

LMAO  lol   I hear you man.  Joe's not an easy player to cop tonewise or stylistically.

Re: Class 5 amp renamed the JB?

I agree the class 5 is a great amp. I've mentioned in another thread that it takes pedals well. So far I have tried the blackstar ht-dual, fulltone fulldrive 2 non mosfet model, OCD V4 and a few fuzz pedals. I'm liking the fulldrive 2 the most. I'm not keen on using the boost though I find it too dark.
Once we see the epi bonamassa signature and pair it with the class 5, add a tube screamer wah and dd3 and reverb the ultimate poor mans bonamassa rig will be born!
