Did anyone go to the Cleveland show? Someone had to have gone that can offer a review...every review is needed for some of us...
I was there. I'm still in too much awe to write intelligently about it.....but I'll try.
I had the great pleasure to have Joe sign my guitar. My wife and I showed up at the venue and met up some other folks waiting for Joe. He's just the most down to earth, kind hearted guy. I really felt privileged to listen to him chat with us commoners. On to the show!
P.A. lead in music was Iron Maiden's "Two minutes to midnight". I was surprised by this somewhat as I was thinking that's a pretty heavy tune to come on to stage after. Of course Once Joe came out with the Ernie Ball double neck playing BOJH all bets were off. His sound live, believe it or not is so much better than anything I've heard recorded. From there he went on to play:
Last Kiss
So Many Roads
So it's like that
If heartaches were Nickels
Further on up the road (no eric clapton!) oh well ahhahahah
Sloe Gin
Lonesome road
Happier times
blue and evil
three times a fool
Blues Deluxe
Young Mans Blues
Woke up Dreaming
Mountain time
encore
Bird on a Wire
Just got paid
On just got paid the volume was off the hook. I was in the 6th row and I could see my clothes moving from the bass! It still sounded great thought.
He played some great guitars, Ernie ball Axis? red flame on it. couple of Les pauls including the blue one. No goldtop these days. I think he put the prototype in the vault and is waiting on #52. I offered him mine but he surely has a guitar or two available to him so he passed. A gibson 355? I think. and of course the Gigson explorer and the flying V. Also did an acoustic but not sure what kind he was playing to be honest. Maybe an Alverez?
My wife has been a Bruce Springsteen fan for years. She said Joe is the only one so far that out works him! He has such a presence on stage, he's just becomes bigger than life and puts a show on that you won't ever forget. I'm looking at his tour dates in Europe and considering checking him out over there. He puts on a 2 plus hour show of Blues/rock that will blow you away. I'm a fan for life. Another thing we noticed is that everybody going to the show were just the nicest bunch of folks. By the time the show started it felt like a party and Joe happened to be the band! Great times.......
Oh yeah the light show. I was impressed. I wasn't over the top but it did enhance the show quite a bit. I feel I got a great value on my ticket. He worked his **** off for us and put on a great show...
Thanks xcorporate!
Nothing you wrote surprises me...I've seen Joe a bunch of times and he is always a gentleman, always gracious to his fans, and when it comes to the actual show, he has NEVER mailed it in.
Thanks xcorporate for the comprehensive review. In Peekskill we sat 4th row - the closest ever for me. It really is a different show up that close. Joe made paint fall from the ceiling of the theatre - something we would not have seen further back. When is the last time you experienced a muscian make paint peel?
Looking forward to the Fall leg in the States...

I saw Motor Head play and Lemmy shut the richfield coliseum down. Plaster was falling all over the place!

Thank you so much for this review xcorporate. It's nice to know Joe is accessible. We will be seeing him on 5/7 in Iowa City, front row center. I would just love to ask him to sign one of my hubby's guitars. Maybe we will go over early to see if we can get a minute or two with Joe.
Maybe if the weather is O.K. and he's not too tired he might sign stuff at the bus after the show. I know some folks go that route. I was able to get a hold of the street team director and because I had just purchased a JBLP they arranged for us to see him and get it signed. He was a very kind guy and took time with everybody to just chat about whatever....I have to admit that I told my wife while we were waiting that I felt like we were getting a private audience with the Pope or something. When Joe walked in I thought to myself: "self, do not go down on a knee and kiss his hand, that would be wierd and would freak Joe out." hahahahah
Have fun in Iowa!!
