Re: Give me methods to work speed to play joe scales

Troy Stetina's book "Speed Mechanics" has a lot of good exercises.  Also, practice with a metronome, and go very slowly, focusing on accuracy.  Be very careful not to play too fast for your own good and end up practicing sloppy.  The great thing about Joe's playing is that even though he plays really fast, it's super clean.  Every note is very articulate.  If you practice playing clean, even though you're slow at first, eventually you'll get faster at playing cleanly.  If you play sloppy, you'll only get faster at playing sloppy, and even then you'll probably hit a brick wall.

I second the Stetina's book, lots of great stuff in there. Play clean don't use overdrive while you practice. Building speed takes time believe I am still not nearly as fast as I want to be.
