Topic: Ive decided to sell my deluxe reverb and to buy a metro super lead.

Well Im taking the plunge and finally buying my first marshall styled amp. Im currently selling my deluxe reverb reissue in mint condition with the original hang tags. I've owned this amp for about six months and in that time it has never left my smoke free living room. I've upgraded the power tubes with jj 6v6s, and the rectifier has also be replaced with a JJ rectifier tube. Everything is in pristine working condition, and Im looking into getting around $800.00 for it. Leave a comment or send me a message if your interested.

Guitars- Gibson 1960 V.O.S Les Paul, Fender Eric Johnson Strat, Martin SWOMGT.
Amp- 1967 fender vibrolux reverb
Effects- Ibanez TS-808, BBE Two Timer, BBE Soul Vibe, Vox V847, Dunlop Hendrix Fuzz Face, Tonebender MKII, BK Butler Tube Driver.

Sweet man!  Metros are absolutely magic man.  I couldn't be happier with my Superlead build.  Are you getting a custom shop (built by George) amp or a kit?  JTM45, 1986, 1959?  You really can't go wrong with any really, but if you are traditionally a Fender guy I'd recommend trying the JTM45 first.  It has a little more glassiness and sparkle to the sound than a Superlead or Superbass.  Besides, the 100w is often too much for some.  I personally love having my pants flap when I play guitar  cool

Which build did you get stratpaulguy? I'm looking at them too. Would love the Category 5 JB-100, but doubt I could get approval from the Head of Domestic Engineering.

LOL must be the codename for the Mrs. My build is a bone stock Metro Superlead kit built to '69 lead specs.  No attenuators, no master volumes, no nothing.  I got a pre xmas deal to where the price was a hundred bucks less AND a free Sozo upgrade.  I highly recommend the Sozos and George's stock trannies.  They are more accurate to old spec than the Mercury Mags.  A Cat 5 JB100 would be cool but a Metro with or without a Tubescreamer will get you there and then some, believe me.  It's actually bewildering that Joe hasn't used Metros yet as IMO they are the most accurate Plexi replicas you can buy.  George an Co. are also amazing people to deal with.

I've really got an itch for the 12,000 series SL. I'd do it bone stock too, except for maybe the effects loop. What's your opinion...wise or unwise in this "vintage" amp?

Re: Ive decided to sell my deluxe reverb and to buy a metro super lead.

I'd vote "wise" as long as you know what you are getting into.  George's amps are the bees-knees for plexi tones IMO, but most people can't handle the power these things put out.  I've heard good things from the Lar/Mar PPIMV but I just couldn't bring myself to put one on my Superlead.  I cannot express how happy I've been with my tone since the Superlead build.  No more amp blending or super crazy setups anymore for a great lead tone.  I'm so happy with just the Superlead + OD pedal + reverb/echo.  That's it.  cool

More clips will be forthcoming, especially considering that my new dream rig is almost complete.  The rack is nearly assembled.  I have a ton of George L cable on the way that I'm wiring everything up with.  The only thing really left is perhaps a TC Chorus and Echoplex but I don't need either right this minute.  Just got done playing the Metro about an hour ago....WOW.

Hey if you dont mind, could you post some clips of you getting some lead tone out of your metro. Did you get a new cab yet it seems like its almost a crime not to pair a super lead with some greenbacks.

Re: Ive decided to sell my deluxe reverb and to buy a metro super lead.

Sure man, I'll get right on that.  I will do a Les Paul demo for you because my last one was all Stratocaster.  You would think that the speakers I'm using now are sacreligious but I really dig the sound.  I'm sure some Greenbacks would be great too, but at the 25w rating I'm afraid that I'd blow them up!  Eventually I can see myself dropping the coinage for some nice Scumbacks which are similar to the Greenbacks but with more power.

Keep your eyes peeled for the Metro + Les Paul demo...coming soon!

It looks like George is going to put out some pretty sweet vintage cabs.
