Re: Relic Guitar Studio

Hi how hard is it to strip an old finish off as I have an old 87 fender japan strat that I would like to mod but the paint work is pretty heavy stuff and even the neck has black paint over it ??

Re: Relic Guitar Studio

Softmc where are you from? In england there is a product called Nitromors it will strip anything if left with enough time lol, stick it in a bag covered in the stuff and throw it out over night and it should peel straight off... However dunno what the equivalent is in US etc as this stuff cant be exported...

Re: Relic Guitar Studio

oh where in scotland SOFTMC? I'm just south of glasgow myself.
What I done was use a heatgun. The finish starts to lift then splits and just keeps tearing. Just keep the heatgun along it and it will keep peeling. It takes a good while to get it all off cause some bits (particularly where dents are) just hold on tight and you need to chip them off. It's worth it though. The nitro is from tonetech by the way. It's good nitro, I've got some checking on the headstock within a couple of months.
