John was a great one for sure. I listen to jazz as well as rock, some great drummers there too. try out a guy name Dave Weckl, he blows me away on Mike Stern's new release Big Neighborhhood (shameless plug). my alltime favorite is Neil Peart, just don't believe anyone plays better within the context of their music than he. good topic, what does the RAH stand for? insert smiley face.
Buddy was Johhny Carson's favorite (Johhny had some drumming background I believe, can't recall though) and the pre and post music guest-host chatter was really as entertaining as the music, they were good friends.
RAH=? Random Access Happiness?! Oh wait, boss is callin.... Royal Albertson's Hall?!

Ahhhh yes! VERY nicely done and on so FEW drums! Mixed it up from the standard stuff, did a bit where he resembled the Muppet Animal. John IS an animal. 
The rest of that song however, sounded mysteriously like a Bobby Parker song

I agree John Bonham was unquestionably the best of the rock drummers. Other notables are Keith Moon, Neil Peart and Ginger Baker.
As for the best of the best I'll agree with my Southern friend that you'll find most in jazz bands. My personal fave is Billy Cobham and his classic album Spectrum with Tommy Bolin. More recent drummers I like are jazz drummer Tom Brectlein hooking up with Roscoe Beck and Greg Koch on the blues album Live On the Radio, Stanton Moore of Galactic and the drummer that plays with Jim Weider, Rodney Holmes.
