Topic: Gearing Up for DC Show on 4/23

Few questions for those who caught JB on the front leg of the U.S. tour:

(1) Did he play "Asking Around for You" to conclude any shows or are all of them ending with "Just Got Paid"?

(2) Any opening act or just JB?  If no opening act, is it the ticket time sharp?

(3) I thought I read either on a post or a YouTube comment that he morphed "Just Got Paid" into Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" at one show.  Any confirmation on this or it is the usual JGP into Dazed...

Re: Gearing Up for DC Show on 4/23

Saw 3 Cali shows.
1. No on the first part. Yes on the second. edit: it seems that Bird on a Wire has replaced AAFY, and the show in Riverside had a famously different ending.
2. No opening acts here, other places had them. Set your clock  by the start time printed. There was a delay in Bakersfield of about 10 minutes. A local DJ filled in the gap with chatter and anecdotes.
3. I recall something like that too.

Re: Gearing Up for DC Show on 4/23

I'm absolutely stoked for the show tomorrow night which will be my first time seeing Joe. I've coerced several of my neighbors into going with me.   Sad to say I only became aware of Joe about year ago.  It just happened to be the same day I discovered Pandora.  The first thing I did was set up a Gary Moore station.  The second song that played was either So Many Roads or Reconsider Baby (can't remember exactly) and it took my breath away.  I've been absorbing everything I could find since then.  Can't wait for the show.

Re: Gearing Up for DC Show on 4/23

I have seen Joe in NYC,Wilmington, and Red Bank.....i have had phenomenal seats for each show...no further than the 3rd row............Joe has dazzled the audience and myself in every show....the only disappointment i have is that the setlist has been identical each time.....i understand that it makes it easier for the band and crew......but i have seen earlier gigs in the tour where Bridge to Better Days has been substituted..........boy I'd sure like to hear Ball Peen Hammer too!!!!!  See ya at the Keswick....omg row 8...may need binoculars!!!!   check out Joe's interaction with the rambunctious rowdy NJ crowd at 6:45......priceless Joe!!!!

Re: Gearing Up for DC Show on 4/23

There's road closures due to the IMF World Bank meeting.  Keep this in mind when parking.

Re: Gearing Up for DC Show on 4/23

Road closures don't start at 7:30.  Parking in GWU Visitors Lot is the best and easiest way to park close (about a block and a half from Lizner)....

Re: Gearing Up for DC Show on 4/23

Just home from the DC Show.  As usual, JB was larger than life.  Good sound in the old Lizner Auditorium.  Rick is correct.  Bobby Parker was the special guest and came on stage and played three songs with Joe, including Joe's cover from Black Rock "Steal Your Heart Away".  He also jammed with Joe on Blues Deluxe and I forgot the first song (my mind is still buzzing over the show...).  Joe seemed to have a really good time having Parker play with him and the boys.  Hopefully someone shot some video of it for those of you not in attendance.   Brought three newbies with me and they were blown away (as every first timer is...).  Only a handful of empty seats in the 1,500 seat auditorium.  More comments on the show tomorrow....

Bobby Parker posted that he had a real good time and felt very honored to have been invited. Sounds like a smoking good show. Thanks for the link Jane. You always hunt them down.
