Re: LP Standard vs Traditional?

I played a beautiful Traditional Goldtop last week...it played loud and resonated well unplugged. I am holding out for the '57 re-issue!

I can tell you I do have a bit of a problem keeping the G sting in tune on my Traditional Plus even after the step up so I might invest in the locking tuners in the future.

I picked up some Big Bends Nut Sauce and it's definitely helped my tuning stability.  Worth a shot for about $10.

NUT Sauce is a MUST! I couldn't live without it. My guitars stay in tune perfectly, never ever had any tuning issues anymore since I use Nut Sauce.

Gits: '03 Gibson Historic R7 Goldtop, '06 Gibson R8 Plaintop, MIJ '62 RI Strat,  and others...

Graphite, and  Vaseline is all it is.  Now you can make your own.

Re: LP Standard vs Traditional?

Hold Out for the LP you really want....Keep playing all the LP's you can find, even the expensive Custom Shop LP's to compare the feel & workmanship. In the mean time, keep saving money. I fear it will be hard to find the more original LP, cause they make them with too many alterations now.
If you are really in love with a particular color, or feature...hold out... til you find that guitar....dont find yourself sitting with friends saying, "Yea it's a nice LP, but I really was looking for the black back Gold Top." You'll have regrets...dont settle.
I bought my 89' vintage sunburst LP in 1989, on a whim, when I said one saturday, "I'm gonna buy a LP today." Started calling around, & had to drive to Upper Sandusky, about 100 miles away to buy it....or the black LP they had...... Mine is now labeled the ''pre-reissue'' 58' LP....with the small frets and pink plush lined brown case,...still smells new......kinda sorry to say.....ENJOY this time hunting for your LP,.... then come join us LP players!....we'll be waiting for you on the other side! Later On!   >> DAN

Re: LP Standard vs Traditional?

There are no shortage in the 57 Custom Shop darkback type.  Good Luck.  I'd love to get that bluesbreaker from you.  I dont have the cash though.
