Topic: Marshall DSL combo vs. Marshall MA combo

I know Joe likes the DSL combo but I was wondering if you (Joe) and others have a take on the MA series?

I am looking for a compliment to my Fender deville 4x10 and to some degree my Blues Junior. I will mainly be running it a Strat. I have a '74 50 Watt Marshall and a '69 100 Watt. Looking for something a little more portable.

It appeals to me due to the fact that it has EL34 tubes as opposed to EL84 in the combo version of the DSL combo.

Thanks!

Re: Marshall DSL combo vs. Marshall MA combo

Haven't read one good thing on the MA series from multiple boards.

With Joe's recommendation of DSL's I think I may grab a DSL 50 watt head (since it has the EL34's) and a 1x12 cab.

Got a 2x12 and 4x12 already.

Re: Marshall DSL combo vs. Marshall MA combo

The new Marshall MAs are absolutely awful IMO one of the worst things that Marshall has ever stamped it's name on.  I remember liking the sound of the MG100 stack more!  The MA is harsh, buzzy, noisey, cheap, and kind of unsightly.  It's amazing how in basically the same year they can release a home run like the Class 5 and also turds like the MA and that JMP-1 hybrid head (yuck).
