Topic: JCM 800 2210
I have the JCM800 2210 (100 watt version), half stack at 8 ohm. How close is it to the Silver Jubilee? I never played a Jubilee. What are the differences?

This is much AS i know
The jubilee was based on the jcm 800 , the first jcm800 2203,2204 was all tube pre amp and is the most organic sounding jcm800 and they really take pedals well
the next jcm800 was the 2210 2205 these introduced clipping diodes into the preamp to give more distortion and also was a 2channel with reverb to give you clean channel and od channel these are great amps and define the sound of 80s rock look up michael schenker from UFO or any solo stuff to hear what a 2210 sounds like.
1987 to celebrate 25 years Marshall brought out the Silver jubilee series this was the 2555 ,2553 ect again this was a 2channel amp of sorts but the main difference from the 2210 is the clipping diodes were placed after the pre-amp which gave the amp a more natural sounding distortion, they also had a triode pentode switch which switched the amp to half power 100/50 or50/25w but loses some fatness to the sound IMHO
the jcm slash model is basically a silver jubilee
thanks Derek
Thanks Derek. I knew about the diode clipping thing in both amps but I didn't know that they were placed after the pre-amp in the Jub. Is there any way an amp tech could mod that? And easily reverse it, in case I want the amp in its original state again?
Another issue I have with my 2210 is the very poor FX loop. There's a very noticeable hum and a bit of a volume loss, too. I read somewhere that Joe thinks the Jub has the best FX loop. Is there any way the FX loop could be modded towards the Jubilee to improve it?
To be honest this is a question that I cannot answer? as far as I know the jubilee had a totally different tonestack and the 2210 was an amp that was expensive to make due to reverb and different circuits . my advice is if you dont like the 2210 sell it and buy a Ceriatone 2555 hand wired ! that is if you really want jubilee sound
I had 2203 which was awesome but with my 2553 and EVM12L I have one of the best marshall sounds ever!!!
Ok, I'll forget about the tonestack, then. The tone of my 2210 is not that bad after all.
BUT I really need to to something about the FX loop. The way it is now is unusable and we all know what running a delay pedal through the front of an 100 W Marshall sounds like.
I even tried Ceriatone's Klein-ulator -- that made things even worse.
Any mods or even layouts to improve the FX loop of the 2210 to bring it to the quality of the Silver Jub is most welcome. Thanks.
The effects loop should not be that bad take your amp to a tech there may be something wrong with the effectsloop
as it should work ok see this link for how Michael schenker used his
