Topic: Ceriatone SJ 25 / 50

It finally arrived today!

Sorry for the length of this, but I've got some questions and could use some advice from all of you multi-amp pros.

My current settings for the Silver Jub 25 / 50 are
Presence 5
Bass 8
Middle 5
Treble 5
Output master 5
Lead Master 2
Imput gain 8

Does the imput volume only work with  / in the Rhythm clipping mode?

I seem to prefer the lead channel, and the rhythm clipping option seems a little compressed and the amp losses a little headroom.

Now for the multiple amps.  I'll be using the SJ 25 / 50 as the main sound, with a Ceriatone 18 / 36 watt (w/ EF86) for the second amp.  Here is what I'm trying first to get a Thick, wet / dry sound:

Ceriatone SJ 25 / 50
Guitar (R8 or Strat) through an OCD into a splitter (Chorus and Delay in the effects loop)

Ceriatone 18 / 36 watt (w / EF86)
Splitter to a Holy Grail into the 2nd Ceriatone

Will this get the wet / dry sound?  Any suggestions on what pedals to add or take-a-way of this set-up?

Thanks folks!

Jim                 big_smile

Re: Ceriatone SJ 25 / 50

Sounds good Jim!  I bet it sounds awesome.  Any tubescreamers in there anywhere?  That honkey midrange works really well in a multi amp rig.  Also a fuzz of some sort would be cool.  Some modulation pedals that would be cool would be a chorus, tremolo, univibe, leslie, phaser, etc.   So many pedals, it really depends on what you are into.

Re: Ceriatone SJ 25 / 50

CONGRATS on your new S/Jubilee amp. I have similar 50w version and settings I settled for (after lots of tweaking) are
Presence 5
Bass 8
Middle 7
Treble 5
Output master dimed
Lead Master 3
Input gain 5-6    (yep these are basically Joes settings!)

keep it on the lead channel , the rhythm channel is not so fat sounding. the point of these settings is to have output tubes working full out , the downside is if you try to use the clean channel - ouch very loud icepick (this can be tamed with a graphic eq pedal set as req)
Next you need Boss dd3 in loop of S/Jube switched on /off as req

personally I would loose the OCD the Jube needs no distortion added to it as it can get muddy, and anyway why get a great sounding amp like the Jube and stick a distortion in front of it just my 2 cents. save the OCD for your ceriatone 18w

next set up your ceriatone to get your blended sound with reverb and whatever else it takes to get what sound you are after I used Ceriatone HRM as some other guys on the forum have used. it blends well with the marshall sound !

good luck and happy tweaking

I want something like this, but I'm praying for Metro Amps to come out with a Jub clone.

Jube shmoob.  Order one of their 100w Superleads and put a TS808 in front of it.  The Metros are some amazing amps no matter what you get.  They have the 100 Master Volume out now which is like the mid '70s 100w MV JMPs.  That would probably work well for Joe type tones as well.

Haha - Jube shmoob - I love it! Too funny. All the talk about tone, tone, tone...try practice, practice,practice....the REAL answer to tone....tone is in the hands, heart and the head. The best player I know personally sounds amazing through any amp he plays....even solid state.

Yep those Metros sound AWESOME this I cannot deny . and I will have one again (had original superlead 100w,  but sold it sniff ! sniff ! in the 80s when they were considered dinosours due to all the new technology and solid state garbage that the dodgy guitar shop salesmen were trying to sell us) but the superlead needs to be up darn loud to sound good and this would get me an ASBO  lol  so the jube shmoob delivers some great classic marshall fat juicy tones at a low volume in the same way the dumble clones do . and my neighbours  still occasionally talk to me  hmm
but I know Justin in his heart o hearts would love to have a JUBE SHMOOBE  lol

Re: Ceriatone SJ 25 / 50

Same 50w here.
Presence 3,5
Bass 7
Middle 7
Treble 4
Output master 7
Lead Master 5
Input gain 4-5

I never use other than the lead channel.

I play through an Ultimate Attenuator (works great with the 2550 but not with the 50W Ceriatone OTS HRM by some reason).
A T-808 in front (as clean boos for solos) and a TC repeater and Digitech Hardwire Chorus in the loop. Also an OCD but rarely used and only with the OTS HRM. I agree that the 2550 does not need help from an OD pedal.

Ya know that's funny, the tone I can get out of my hands ain't bad. And thank god, because they'd be hard to sell on ebay  lol
Practice, practice, practice... hands swell up. Now what? Take some ibuprofen, and shop for a new amp!
BB King plays through solid state amps. You can get those Gibson/Moog amps cheap too, as long as you have the patience to learn what all the knobs do.

Oh heck yeah man, and if there's anyone out there that could probably out Jubilee a Jubilee its George.  He's basically already done it with all the other Marshall models!  Seriously though, if you can stand the volume, a cranked up Superlead + fuzz or TS808 = THE Les Paul tone for me.  Very Joe like, though perhaps a bit less midrangey/complex (it is only one amp lol).  With a Strat it's hard to beat a Tube Driver into a Superlead for the tones I like.
