Re: Palace of the Fine Joe Arts

Welcome to the Forum Blue Dragon.
I saw your dive and scramble for the pick. We were a few seats to the right. My reaction time isn't what it used to be or there would have been a pile up there.  lol I hope the magic flows from that pick to your fingers. Join the throng and post often.

I saw Joe up in Sacramento and then the next night in San Francisco. They were both excellent shows, but it did seem to me that the SF show was somehow a touch better. (Not sure why, but I don't think it was just the venue difference; the band's energy on stage seemed different).

The exciting thing for me was this: At the end of the Sac show I noticed Joe throwing his pick out into the audience. Now, my girlfriend had scored us front row center seats at the Palace of Fine Arts, and I went into the show hoping to catch the pick. Sure enough, Joe threw his pick, but it landed somewhere on the ground in front of us. I dove down, and a bit of light caught it and I scored the pick! It may seem silly, but I was psyched.

It'd be great if a tiny bit of Joe's guitar mojo came along with it, but I've not yet tried it  smile

A bit of light...It may seem silly but I was psyched.

A bit of light indeed.  It was meant to happen I assure you.  I know what it means but...Can't explain.  I think it's love...That was a fine example of this is not just another artist or fine arts exposition.  There's somethin' goin' on and even Len B can't explain it all, he just knows it's so.  Even if you never use that pick, there's somethin' goin' on there.  I recently posted about a pick toss which was one of three during the introduction to Blues Deluxe which were part and parcel of the show for a short time last year-incidentally that fast riff has ended up on Black Rock, for those with discerning ears.  Anyway the third pick was tossed high in our area down front, away from me, as I had made a series of motions which Joe saw, to toss the last one high and away (the others had been straight out and fast, this one he took a "bit of time" to throw) from me.  No one came up with it, either in the dark or later with more than "quite a bit of light".  I think it went back into Joe's own pick tins some how and you are now the recipient by your own wish fulfilled thinking.

Front row center???? Was your girlfriend the one that ended up with Bogie's drumstick after it bounced off my hand? We had a pick fly over my head to the three guys sitting behind me, but nobody ever found it. I gave the younger of the bunch one out of the stash I had in my pocket. It helps to know the guy who makes them who happened to be at the show as well. That little extra lift the band got was a mix of Sandi Thom coming into town that day for a visit as well as Hubert Sumlin stopping by to visit and they guest listed Tiran Porter, a big fan of Joe's, since he couldn't stay for the Santa Cruz show.

Well, she didn't end up with it, but I seem to recall it whizzing by us. She has long, straight black hair and I have very little hair smile To her right were my two brothers, who did not know of Joe before this but are now big fans.

Re: Palace of the Fine Joe Arts

Hi All - It's been a long time since I posted here, but I've been keeping up w Joe on facebook more these days.

I was at this show and we had a great time. It was an excellent show from the first note to the last! Joe was gracious enough to sign my CD at the stage door afterwards, which was delightful!

I checked around on youtube, hoping to find a video of "Woke Up Dreaming", which blew me away that night, but no luck. (I did find some other great clips from that night - check it out!) Does anyone have that song uploaded or know where it might be posted online? If so, could you please reply here with a link for it? I'd really appreciate it!

Hope to see some of you at future shows.

Cheers!
