Topic: Clapton Crossroads

Hey All,
Just wondering if anyones heard the rumors of another Crossroads?  Or has anyone heard of actual confirmation of another one?  Anyway Does anyone see a reason why Joe wasn't apart of Crossroads?  By that Time Joe should have caught Clapton's attention considering he covers Clapton a lot, and stated him as a prominent influence. Maybe if another big guitar festival goes on again we should do the same thing we did with the Jay Leno thing and get Joe some well deserved recognition.  Let me know what you guys think.
Peace,
Conner

I think this was first brought up here: http://www.jbonamassa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1504
It seems like it's gonna happen. Sonny Landreth for one has it listed on his tour page: http://www.sonnylandreth.com/tour-frame.html

Re: Clapton Crossroads

Joe probably hadn't been heard of yet by Clapton. Who knows if he's even been heard of yet by Clapton as of right now.

I remember on Kenny's site it was said he was invited to do it, but with filming Ten Days Out and finishing up The Place You're In, he couldn't do it.

Re: Clapton Crossroads

This was covered in an earlier thread and I think you'll find that Eric is very much aware of Joe.

Re: Clapton Crossroads

I must've missed it. How does Eric know of Joe, and what does he think?

Re: Clapton Crossroads

Eric said "I'm not sharing the stage with that guy. he's way too good" smile Seriously, the general opinion seems to be (according to postings on here from a previous thread) that Joe's management are aware of Crossroads and that EC's aware of Joe. I suppose the only people that know for sure are the powers that be...but if Joe isn't invited then someone, somewhere needs a bloody good talking to smile

Since its inception, Clapton's vision for the Crossroads Guitar Festival has been to create an event where his friends and contemporaries can have fun and jam together for the benefit of a good cause. This year's Festival will feature a full day of musical performances with once-in-a-lifetime guitar collaborations. Known as pioneers in their field, the roster of artists spans old and new, from BB King to John Mayer. The audience can expect unrivaled entertainment, brilliant guitar work, surprise guests and impromptu jams that are the hallmarks of these performers.

The first Crossroads Guitar Festival, in June 2004 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, was an unprecedented collection of guitar icons from blues, rock and contemporary music. The sold-out show was chronicled in a 2-disc DVD that has since gone on to become one of the world's top-selling music DVD's, recently achieving the 8x platinum mark in the United States alone.

"The Crossroads Festival is the realization of a dream for me, to gather a group of amazingly talented musicians to perform on one stage," said Clapton. "The Crossroads performers are all musicians I admire and respect."

Additional Festival artists and elements to be announced shortly.

Shouild be an amazing show...

Re: Clapton Crossroads

Actually, I saw it in the morning in the Chicago Sun Times, then saw it in the Blues Festival e-guide that night when I got home and checked my mail. Either way, great news.

Re: Clapton Crossroads

Let me say that the 80's did wierd things to artists.

I had no idea (at the time) Steve Winwood of the 80's was the Blind Faith Steve Winwood.
"dont you know what the night can do" etc.

Same thing with George Harrison - a Beatle?
"I got my mind set on you" etc..

the 80's.....the 80's....

Although I'm only a couple years younger than Joe, thank god the 80's are over

Re: Clapton Crossroads

NPB,
I thought the 80's were great for music. 2 of the greatest guitarists came from the 80's: George Lynch and Warren DeMartini. And who could forget a Blues Rock guitarist named SRV.
