hey man no probs. Yeah it certainly is Vintage Jeff, it has all the hallmarks. His emotive style, the staccato bits out of nowhere (in a good way), that tone and phrasing that instantly identifies it as Becks work. However it is not BeckOla, Truth or Blow By Blow. Thats not to say it is in anyway inferior though. It certainly has similarities with Blow By Blow - Cause We've ended as lovers is very similar in style and tone and thats certainly high praise imo. Unlike Blow By Blow where that song was the quiet, emotional piece with majority of the album up an uptempo progressive Jazz Fusion sound - Emmotion and Commotion does the opposite, it is a very soothing almost ambient soundscaping Album with only a few tracks that turn up the volume and tempo. This time instead of Jazz, Classical seems to be Jeffs major influence. As I say this isn't a bad thing at all its great but don't expect a balls to the wall rocker (not that many will be I'm sure).
Now I have had more time to listen; Its a great album to unwind and relax to at the end of the day or whilst travelling to or from work on the train maybe (very calming but one could also say envigorating as well). There sre stunning tracks - I just wouldn't reccomend listening to it if you are depressed with a bottle of wine and any sleeping pills and/or razor blades nearby as its a very somber affair.
In the end though 2 thumbs way up from me.
