Topic: Speaker advise needed

Hey all....

I am thinking about changing out my speaker from my Vox ac15cc1.  It has the Vox Warfdale speaker which is ok.  But I would like to know if there is a speaker out there that can do two things:  1) increase the clean headroom and 2) give that sweet natural creamy saturation sound of those old classic marshall plexis/JTM45's...

keep in mind I don't need to break the bank with it either as I am also contemplating adding a fender amp (maybe a deluxe reverb) and blending the two.....

Any thoughts????

Re: Speaker advise needed

Check out the Eminence website. They have sound clips and comparisons of their (many, many) Speakers on the site. I'd recommend looking at the Red Coat and the Patriot Lines.

Most people will praise the celestion vintage 30. Some people praise anything with a hemp cone. Joe likes his EV's
When I made the choice I checked out the Eminence website. Made in USA, and lots of options. Those Celestion V30's are made in China now I think and are not the same as the English made ones used to be.

Re: Speaker advise needed

I have V30's I like them enough, I want to try some good Eminences, I have a pair that where pulled out of an old ampeg and they should be 16 Ohms and they are reading 12 Ohms no ideay why.

Re: Speaker advise needed

I use Eminence Governors and they're great. "The Tonker" speaker is supposed to be really good too..

Re: Speaker advise needed

I would have thought the Celestion Blue is the classic speaker for anything Vox. However, it's a bit pricy and rated at 15W. It's supposed to be loud (100db?).
You probably won't get a Plexi tone out of it. A Greenback then?
