Topic: Your Favorite Guitar Tone Of Joe

My favorite guitar tone from Joe is during the riff of Pain To Sorrow, just awesome meaty strat tone. I'd love to sound like that! Anyone know what strat was played in that song? The Clapton? I also love the solo in that tune with the univibe.

What are your favorite Joe tones.

Re: Your Favorite Guitar Tone Of Joe

The solos in "Walk In My Shadows" from the ANDY studio CD. It sounds just like Clapton from the Cream days.

Re: Your Favorite Guitar Tone Of Joe

I'm still waiting for delivery of 2 of Joe's cds but I really like the tone on Stone Cold Hearted. That riff after the first line of the second chorus is "money".

"why isn't the number "11" pronounced "onety one"???....S. Wright.

Re: Your Favorite Guitar Tone Of Joe

The sounds Joe gets out of the Trussart Steelcaster are rockin'. Wondering what a steelcaster would sound like with a non ashtray bridge and a set of really good strat pickups. Very meaty stratty tone I would think. Yum.

Re: Your Favorite Guitar Tone Of Joe

That's the thing with Joe, his tone!! My favorites are the ones that hit me in my gut!! that's the only way to put it. What I want to know is, given the same strings, the same amps why does Joe choose a certain guitar for certain songs and not always the same guitar for the same song? Now I understand the concept of "bottom" and Les Paul's deliver. I also am begining to hear more bottom in a strat over a tele but is there more to this?

Re: Your Favorite Guitar Tone Of Joe

The solo at the end of the LIVE version of "Mountain Time", quite simply makes this 59 year old blub! The sound that comes out of that Gigliotti is just awesome

For some of the newer fans here, check this out if you haven't already and enjoy a little Roy Buchanan while you are at it!

You can print out a February 2004 interview with Joe from the right side of the screen.  It's not totally outdated and I realize our main man is a gear junkie and is always experimenting to please our ears even more!!

Re: Your Favorite Guitar Tone Of Joe

My Favourite guitar tone of his is in the song " Tea for One " That tone to me, Spells Joe Bonamassa. It Compliments the vocals Perfectly in that song, and the solo really draws out some emotions from within the song that only that tone could do for it.

Theres other tones I love though..
" Pain and Sorrow " during the solo part, ALWAYS puts me into a trance like dream state when I close my eyes during it.
" Wild About You " is another great one
" The River " is amazing also..

Theres to many to list.. tongue

It would be a Treat to hear Joe do a cover of " Colin James - Why'd You Lie " as to me, that guitar in that song, has one of the best tones I've heard. It's perfect for the song, perfectly played, and Really Kicks up the Emotional Dirt in the song. I think Joe could do an amazing Cover of that song, but thats more of a " I would LOVE to hear that" then anything. I just think of that song being a Joe song for some reason. Maybe I just know it's lacking something, and I know Joe can fill what it's lacking. lol

As it stands, Joe has some of the best tones I've heard, Whats better, is he doesn't have a "Set" tone, it's more of what tone the song has, and he compliments that tone, and thats what seperates the Guitar players and the Guitar Artist's. Like how the colors on a art peice can set an emotional mood that you can feel when you look at it. Joe's Tones does that for the song's he does.
