Joe plays some mean slide -

It looks like it says GIBSON on the headstock, but I must admit that my vision is getting weak... !  I figured the numbers on the fretboard would give it away -

?? The Skylark was a Lap Steel - are you sure about the prototype?  Seems like that would be a pretty rare guitar. One of a kind?

Yes it's the Skylark prototype.  It's a one-off custom shop guitar from Gibson made specifically for Joe.  It's got the neck of the Skylark (those unmistakable numbers/inlays indicating the frets) with the body of a Gibson Marauder.  I actually played an early 80's Marauder the other day and it really reminded me of that guitar...since they aren't very collectable you could always pick up a Marauder and slap a humbucker in the back.  Joe certainly makes it sound fantastic!

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

That guitar is a prototype Gibson Skylark guitar from the Gibson Custom shop.. I believe there are two or three total that they made.  Its Korina and made in the style of the old 50s skylark lapsteels..  I think they might put them into production but Im not sure.. My job is to play it and give them  feedback on it.  It really is quite cool and sounds very good.

I was there.  It was great.  That's what I recall Joe saying about the guitar too.  smile

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-
