Topic: Ballad of John Henry Slide Solo!

Hey guys! I just purchased a slide today, and what better song to start with than a BOJH? (Well, I bought the slide TO play this song ;D) I figured out the first few measures of this solo, but I'm somewhat lost. I'm watching the studio video for the song, but I just don't quite have enough feel for slide to learn from this (The camera angles really dont help smile) Would anybody happen to have tab to this (all the tab I've found excludes this part), or even have some general tips on how to improvise something that sounds similar? If nothing else, I can do my best to learn it by ear (Be the first time I really do this for a whole solo, note for note yikes) and I'll post it up smile Finally, any tips for a totally new slide player are welcome too smile

I have been learning Slide to, I don't really have any help for you with the Bonamassa tune, but pick up Warren Haynes Guide to Slide Guitar Tons of great stuff and the book comes with a CD or DVD. Really helped me out, The biggest thing with slide is damping the other strings to get a clear tone...

I guess I know what I will be working on tonight.

Have you guys looked at songsterr.com?

Good reference if you get hung up on a song.  They have a few Joe songs on there.

Ian: I have the tab for the majority of the song, but it seems nobody has tabbed the slide solo (The time that is just rests on that tab) Thanks for trying though  smile
