The Cd was only 9.98(with bonus 2 tracks),the 45 was 6.00 ,and the vinyl was 16.00....:)

I bought the album yesterday and gave it a listen today. I like it; so don't listen to the press, for Christ sake's look who the hell they put on the cover of Rolling Stone anymore. Give it a listen for yourself. Tom gives it 2 thumbs up.

Jimi gets star treatment in next months Classic Rock, along with a nice fold out poster of the man himself.
This month, Kiss get to edit. Also, Led Zeppelin, Humble Pie and Slash.

I thought the album was great. Ok so it was Jimi in 2nd gear, but Jimi in 2nd gear is much better ride than just about every other artist at top speed imo.

Really like the versions Bleeding Heart and Valleys Of Neptune. Great to have a proper version of Sunshine Of Your Love as well.

2) Axis: Bold As Love    (1967)
3) Electric Ladyland      (1968)
4) The First Rays Of The New Rising Sun ( Hendrix work in progress, until Jimi walked off  set in 1970.

Will I actually hear a difference between the actual and the reamastered version?

I listened to Ozzy Osbourne's Blizzard of Ozz and the remastered and could only hear insignificant differences.

I don't foresee a big difference between these remasters and the 1997 ones. Those are fine, and sound great, and those were supposedly "remastered" back then. Just that now Sony is taking it over.

Got to agree with Jane regardless of the money thing. I have been listening to my copy and think it's well worth purchasing. The new songs are quite good and the different versions of old ones are excellent as well. cool

Well, kinda. To play devil's advocate, I would say that since they're moving those releases, owned by Experience Hendrix, to a new label, yes that would necessitate a rereleasing on the label's part, you know. Kinda like when AC/DC moved all their back catalog to Sony/Epic, they rereleased all the old albums. Of course, there was a significant sound improvement on those because those had yet to be rereleased and remastered. Hendrix's had in 1997, so I'm thinking the cash grab would be from Hendrix's family making the move from MCA to Sony.

+1 here, very well produced and the alt versions really are different. with 25 or 30 of his recordings on the PS3 already, we didn't really need it. my son's clearer head prevailed.
