Re: Bonnie Raitt (again)

Dear God Angela, so now we'll have to rush from the HAB to Vienna, Virginia. roll Thanks for the heads up. Have we really not posted about the Goddess for six months?

It must be a sign, though. I was born in Vienna.........Austria. wink

Re: Bonnie Raitt (again)

I'm sorry, I've just got to bring this back up in view of the many recent new (younger) posters, some of whom might possibly not be as aware of The Goddess as they should be. tongue

Yeah Bonnie, I'll love ya anytime.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXVoOgwiYc8

Re: Bonnie Raitt (again)

Bonnie Raitt is touring the States with Taj Mahal. Should be a good gig.

No news of any dates over here.

Re: Bonnie Raitt (again)

In view of BJJ's last post in the 'six words' topics, and with today's events in Boston and D.C. in mind, I just had to revive the Goddess's own topic with a song that still gives me goose bumps even though I must have heard it hundreds of times.

Re: Bonnie Raitt (again)

I get your drift George, the coverage this weekend has been enlightening.  You probably remember Bonnie's early days in the Boston area (Cambridge specifically) when she attended Radcliffe College, sister to Harvard University, then dropped out and moved to Philadelphia, when she got connected to some of the older blues musicians. I think Bonnie made other artists appreciate Angel from Montgomery by the spectacular way she covered it and currently I think the song she has sung for so long, has taken on a new meaning with losing her entire family in recent years. Bonnie is still grieving her only sibling's death to brain cancer this past April, she was very close to her brother Steve.  Steve was only given 6 months to live and lived another 8 years, so the extra years were a gift until he started suffering.  She had an angel on stage with her a couple of days ago in more ways than one.

Are you the ruler of all things coinkydink or however you put it? wink

FAO Angela and other Goddess admirers!

I have recently fallen heavily (in more senses than one  tongue  ) for the very wonderful Grace Potter without really understanding why. I mean, there are plenty of good lady singers/rockers out there.....then I listened to this beautiful, soft song.....all fell into place when I heard what Grace has to say about the Goddess at the end of the song. It's worth it.  wink

Hey George,
Grace is fab! A couple people pointed her out to me previously, including Jane!  I haven't seen her live yet, but will someday.

Angela, thanks for your greetings, relayed by Cathy! Maybe we can finally meet next time I land in Philly?

Heads up all admirers of the Goddess and big thanks to Little Feat on FB for posting this wonderful link - a (stoned  big_smile  ) Bonnie playing with Lowell for the first time in 1972!   cool

Re: Bonnie Raitt (again)

Hi George,

I was thinking of you recently.  There was an amazing special on tv about the history of flowering bulbs in Holland.  My first college degree was in Horticulture and I never knew folks invested in bulbs like a commodity way back when...I wish I caught the whole program...fascinating and beautiful!!  If I come visit you I want to go everywhere flowering!!!

Back to Bonnie...
I just came across this playlist when Bonnie had a DJ spot on an L.A. radio station.  Some of the songs I'm not familiar with.
