Topic: Fort Worth,TX Show at Bass Hall 3/23/10

Wow! This is my first time to see Joe live and I'm blown away. I decide to take my 12yr old son to his first 'rock' show and he was initiated to guitar greatness at an epic scale.

The show started with John Henry and slowly built to a feverishness pitch of hard rocking. The vocals got washed out at times from where I was sitting (mezzanine level) but the guitar and rhythm section sounded fantastic.

The final encore (second song) started with him with a flying V so I knew we were about to rock hard.
He got the crowd to their feet by starting with  ‘Ain’t Superstitious’ intros then morphed into a hard rocking ‘Just got Paid’ then finally into Sabbath’s ‘Paranoid’- bizarre but effective and amazing.

I liked what Joe did with the rugs on stage- 'it really tied the room together'.

Re: Fort Worth,TX Show at Bass Hall 3/23/10

Guitar geek and a JB fan.  My wife, who's only heard me talk about JB, bought me tickets for my birthday.  She'd never heard a single song until last night.  She was blown away by his chops and especially his voice.  She's asking why he's not blowing up.  We may be in Chicago for Crossroads and she's asking if we can see him.  Add her to the list of fans.  And a very cool wife for surprising me with tickets!

Joe put on a great show last night.  The crowd seems a little subdued, but it might have been the venue.  He killed Woke Up Dreaming as always.  Mountain time, Just Got Paid, awesome.  Looks like he brought a sizable piece of his axe collection.  Must have played 10 guitars.  Had a black LP that just growled.  V, 335, Firebird, MusicMan.....Come on Joe, forgive Fender and break out the Bass Boat Strat.  Just for one song.

Welcome to the Forum Lebowski and dadidona.
It sounds like you had a nice introduction to Joe in Ft. Worth. Join the ranks of the seriously infected here. There is no cure so you might as well hang with the rest of us. Run on over to the intro section and tell us about yourselves and how you got to know Joe. There are lots of friendly folk here in the worldwide net of fans.

Re: Fort Worth,TX Show at Bass Hall 3/23/10

Well guys-it was a great show. My first time to Bass hall-smaller than I thought it would be, but very nice. Joe was amazing and gracious as always. I've seen him over 20 times and he just keeps getting better. I need help with one song in the set list-I know there is a Bonamaniac out there that can fill in that gap for me. Joe played a solid 2 hours-19 songs as follows:
BOJH
Last Kiss
So Many Roads
SILT
If Hearthaches Were Nickels
Further on up the Road
Sloe Gin
Lonesome Road Blues
Happier Times
Blue & Evil (this is classic Joe Bonamassa!)
Bridge to Better Days
Three Times a Fool
Blues Deluxe
---this is the song I need help with---
Woke Up Dreamin'
D'Jango
Mountain Time (my fav!)
--Encores--
Bird on a Wire (beautiful!)
Just Got Paid

I wish he came to this area more often. It was great to see the bus and the 18 wheeler and brought back memories of the old van and trailer days. I can still remember when the trailer broke down in Tucumcary, NM.
Well, I hope someone can fill in the blank on that one song.

Re: Fort Worth,TX Show at Bass Hall 3/23/10

Just guessing because the set list has been changing around, but Young Man Blues has been a staple so far on the tour.

that missing song is Young Man Blues.  Joe really tore that one up last night.  Originally written by Mose Allison and covered by The Who. (Actually is my favorite Who song live)

Re: Fort Worth,TX Show at Bass Hall 3/23/10

Holy cow, best show I have ever seen! Even beats the SRV show I saw a few months before Stevie's death.

I saw Joe perform last year in NH, it was great, but this show blew last year's away. Last year was about 1:40 if I recall correctly, this was 2 hours plus of solid high intensity blues-rock!  Had second row seats, was incredible at that intimate venue.

He is my favorite living guitarist and musician on the planet, just the whole package. His voice has improved a ton over the past several years, even a bit better than last year. His chops are awesome, both rhythm and leads, and the way he jumps between the two seamlessly. He has the best phrasing on leads, so unique and creative in that regard in my opinion. His bends are just SO precise, and killer tone.  Every song was just ROCK SOLID.  (Obviously I play guitar - or at least I try...)

Best song of the night IMO was Blues Deluxe, he just absolutely KILLED it on a ES-335 or 355 HB, Dark Cherry w/ Gold Hardware, it was gorgeous and he looked and sounded amazing playing that killer song, no volume swell tricks, liked it even better that way.  (Now I have this strange urge to buy an ES-335 - I bought a Flying V after last year's show, these concerts are expensive for me!   smile )

As usual, his acoustic set of "Woke Up Dreaming" was completely mindblowing. He has made a few subtle changes on that, it is even better now.

Loved Blue and Evil, and Young Man Blues was awesome and a great surprise.  Sloe Gin was excellent as usual.

Awesome array of classic guitars, several Les Pauls (a Black custom w/ Gold Hardware, looked cool), Korina Explorer (first time I have seen that one), Korina V (for Just Got Paid, same as last year), the ES HB, MusicMan doubleneck with Baritone that he uses for the Ballad of John Henry, a couple of other MusicMan's, a Firebird.

His confidence, stage presence and showmanship is better than ever.

New album (Black Rock) is great too. Was released yesterday but I have had it for two weeks, pre-ordered from the website.

Going to see him again in 4 weeks in Boston can't wait!

Well done, Joe and team!!

Ft Worth show was my first time to see JB live.  One word awesome!!!  What makes JB so fan friendly?  How many artists today take time after playing for over two hours non stop to greet his crazy fans after the show and autograph and take pictures with his fans (and appears to enjoy it)?  JB you are one of a kind and a class act....  I am a bona-holic wink

Re: Fort Worth,TX Show at Bass Hall 3/23/10

Wow, like the sound of this set list for this tour. Can't wait for April 20 in Albany. Counting the hours...Larry G

Just hang by the bus after the show and be patient eldergirl64. If Joe is up to it, he will show up and give you your wish.
