Topic: 3000 posts on Black Rock Tuesday
Keeping track of posts isn't a big deal, but to some of us - it archives a personal JB journal.
I started posting here back in 2004 when Had To Cry Today was a CONSTANT in my cd player. It's hard to believe the whirlwind of things that have happened to Joe since then... partly because of us spreading his name and music. Also partly because Joe has been able to consistently put out a quality product. That said, I must say, seeing Joe elevated to this level is both good and bad...(jk) just bad because Joe's music was "mine" (or "ours") and you knew you could get people into it that have never heard of him. It's still like that for the most part. But what was a private thing that slowly became public. Now its worldwide!
Nowadays, people say "yeah, I think I saw him on the cover of some magazine" or "I saw your guy on that Lopez Talk Show, he was pretty good." It seems as if the secret has been leaking out slowly over the years. It is well deserved.
This forum is great for people both new and those who have been here for years. It's great when Joe chimes in every now and then... like things I'd usually save up to ask him about in person are just my posts on the forum. I usually don't expect to say Hi to Joe anymore when he comes to town, but if I'm able I consider it an added bonus.
I never expect Joe to remember who I am. I'd like to think I know a lot of people, and if I haven't seen someone in over a year with little or no contact, I really appreciate a re-introduction so I don't feel like a dummy trying to mumble out your name. I'm great with faces. So when I see Joe in person, I simply say "Hi Joe, I'm NPB from the forums" and he'll say "oh... yeah!" I don't like playing the whole "remember me?" thing. I can only imagine how many thousands of people Joe is expected to remember... it must be mind boggling.
So without sentimental tacky crap or super-fan jargon, I'll leave you with this. I've made friends here on this forum both online and real life, and I expect more to come. And I have a great appreciation for Joe and his management because of how they handle things with the fans. I wouldn't have posted 3000 times around here if this was not fact. Plus I'm a gear head, so if I was tracking my posts, the bulk of them are probably in the guitar and gear part of the forum
All the best,
Nic
