Topic: Out Of Phase mod, and changed knobs

after seeing Joe starting to use his Les paul modded with the peter green out of phase mod when playing sloe gin live, i just had to get the OOP mod back in my guitar.

when i had the Classic 57 pups in my guitar, i flipped the bridge magnet to get the out of phase tone, but when you do the magnet flip its a permanent mod, you cant go back to the regular mid pos tone. last year i bought a new set of pickups, and i decided to keep the magnets in phase. because i like the regular mid pos tone as well. but how can you have both?? i dont have many guitars like Joe, and i dont have a guy that will bring me a different guitar for each song i want to play big_smile

well that's where the jimmy page mod comes in, having a couple push pull pots installed and having a phase switching option. and an added bonus of coil splitting for single coil tones.

so i picked up a Prewired jimmy page kit from RSguitarworks. altho this kit is kinda like 1/2 kit becasue it has 2 push/pull pots compared to 4 for the actually jimmy page guitar. but 2 push/pull pots is enough tone switching for me. the one i mostly wanted is the phase switch. and the single coil feature is an added bonus.

Now going back to the knobs on a les paul, Peter Green had the 2 reflector knobs on his bridge pup controls, gary moore carried on with the peter green burst, and Joe did the same mod on his guitar, so the looks grew on me.

here are a few shots of the knew knobs and a shot of the control cavity showing the Push/pull pots.

its all a matter of principle...

its really cool having those mods, and u cant really tell they are there, unless i mention to you that the guitar has those push/pull pots. altho i need to put a new set of strings on the guitar soon and play around with it and try to find a sweet spot for the pickup height and pole pieces height.
