Topic: The Big Day Arrives Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the big day!  I'm all packed up and ready to go!  My adventures of touring Germany with Eva begin tomorrow night with me getting to JFK to board a big plane headed to Germany!  I arrive in Germany on Wednsday morning at 11:10am (hopefully with no delays) at Frankfurt International.  Eva has planned a wicked Suprise tour for us.  I'm pretty excited.  This is my first time going out of the USA so it's going to be a great time and experience!

I'll post of our adventures when I return  smile .

Rock and Roll,
Ben

Have fun - I'm sure you'll find a computer or two to borrow in your travels.  Finding the time may be another story all together.  (And Happy late Birthday, too.)

"There's a lot of people that are in so much of a hurry to be, I guess, to be famous or that they don't want to take the time to learn to play and do all that. They'd rather just knock it down off a computer and maybe get on a game show and get famous..That's fine if that's what you want to do.

Lucky you Ben!! You will feel right at home. Most people speak English (except the French*@%&$). You'll also learn to appreciate coins that are worth dollars. (Not much for debit cards.) I know George is excited about your trip. I know we'll get a post or two while you're there. But, it will be hard to come home. You'll get busy planning the next adventure!!! Enjoy !!!!   Cathy

Have fun Ben! I'm sure Eva will be the best tour guide that one could ever ask for!

Major Tom to ground control...

Re: The Big Day Arrives Tomorrow!

Yeah, we´re not going back to France Cathy ... our trip to the ferry was enough for the next 5 years.  wink

The 7 days will fly by, but I´m sure we´ll have some time to post some news in between ...
The chocolate cake is in the oven, so everything´s ready for you Ben!  smile
Now you just have to survive the German trains and the trip can begin...

Re: The Big Day Arrives Tomorrow!

Part of Ben's surprise tour will lead him right here to Sin City tomorrow night.   tongue

I'll play the gracious host and make sure the kids don't get into trouble! Eva is bringing surprises, presumably of an edible nature...I'm already fantasizing about real German sausages and real German bread.  cool

Re: The Big Day Arrives Tomorrow!

George, it may be your duty to introduce Ben to a Rochefort 10!
Any chance you'll be at Crossroads 2010?

The Rochefort is a bit rich for my taste, Tom. I've turned into a drink wimp in my old age.

The only chance of me making Crossroads is if I win the lottery. Sadly, I can't afford two trips within a couple of months, nor can I get that many days off. Choices....decisions....it is what it is.  sad

The kids are about an hour away - this is your chance to leave a message, Jack.

Hey All!  Check this out.....

Nuremburg - 10 beers, 2 bottles of white wine, Weisswurst 2 times, Knoedel, Pretzels, Bratwurst

Regensburg - 2 Beers, Schweinebraten

Colonge - at least 25 beers and a round of schnaps, Blutwurst, Sauerbraten, Ice cream, "half a chicken", Gulasch, Quark

Amsterdam - .... tonight

Apart from that - having a lot of fun, climbing up various hills to see various castles, churches and music shops (aka GUITAR STORES), driving on the Autobahn and giving guitar lessons for Eva and Bavarian lessons for Ben.

Re: The Big Day Arrives Tomorrow!

Already in Nürnberg I thought that Ben went in this short time of his tour really to the very core of German Life.

Good luck and lots of fun for your further trip!

Here's some evidence of the rotten time we all had.  tongue

Ben saw the first 15 minutes or so of tonight's big game, Arsenal vs. Barcelona - it was the first game of 'our' football he'd ever seen!  big_smile  I did point out that what he saw was rather better than the 'normal' standard we get to see, kind of like, say, watching Peyton Manning on a really, really good day.  cool

The kids are still on their way back to Cologne, from where Eva will drop Ben back at Frankfurt airport tomorrow afternoon for the flight home he's not looking forward to at all after being spoiled with all those sausages and all that good beer, and of course, the good company.

It was lovely to have them! Ben is such a neat and tidy boy that I suggested Cathy invite him down for a weekend to help her clean.  lol
