Re: Newbie and gear....

Snowy White is horrendously underated

Re: Newbie and gear....

Someone once said Snowy sounded more like Gilmour than Gilmour.

Bird of Paradise was so good Mark Knopfler recorded it and called it Brothers in Arms!!!!!

I agree re Snowy in Lizzy though- not so great.

I have silly tastes at time- for instance, one of my fave solos ever is Steve Cropper/Blues Brothers- The Theme From Rawhide (obviously in 'A')

JB LP Goldtop No. 290- Aged...rather like me.

(I thought he was dreadful with Eric- I even prefer Any Fairweather-Low!- we'll agree to differ!!)

HAHAHAHAHA that was hilarious. I respect your passion for distaste for DBII, though I respectfully differ.

I saw Snowy White, Dave Kilmeister and Andy play with Roger on the DSOTM tour a few years ago, and I thought that was pretty righteous.

Snowy- now you're talking. I hear so much of Snowy in Joe to be honest. Maybe it's a Gold Top thing.....

Did you get my email?

Yes I did get your email, and replied to it.  Can't wait for the pics!

Snowy was absolutely awe-inspiring at the show.  His phrasing and tone were top notch and it was great to see him dueling with Dave on the Comfy solo.  I definitely hear that Joe B. sound in Snowy, the gold top and the fat clear tone are right on track with each other. I've never checked out the Thin Lizzy stuff with Snowy....

Well that is quite a stupid statement to make...I won't go into in how many ways that's below a suitable sentence.

Snowy being in Lizzy - he's excellent, but just not for that band or those type of bands.

Snowy, Renwick or Manzanera?

I don't know who said it- DG is DG- his playing is rather like a nursery rhyme written by shakespeare- simple structure, huge detail, but absolute perfection.

Re Snowy and co- very good question-

Snowy- soulful from-the-heart blues player
Renwick- more Larry Carlton style- technically the nuts- not my bag- prob overly technical.
Manzanera- an amazing composer/textural/arranger but a mean soloist too- more of a musical director.

It's a toughie. All great players, let's agree on that one.
