Topic: recommendations for a pedalboard

hey all, just wanted to ask what pedalboards people would recommend.

currently i have a kinsman pedalboard, which was cheap but a little flimsy. i don't use too many pedals, probably 2-3 most, but would like enough room to add a couple more.

i was thinking either a pedaltrain or tone trunk board, maybe the jr model. what do people think? what do you use?

or should get a piece of mdf and make one?

Best pedalboard for the price (excellent quality, good features) is the Gatorpedalbag.
It carries also a little "powerplant" with 9 and 18V! It's a decent device, you should give it a try instead of spending the money on the Pedaltrain.

Both Jimi's are behind the Gator pedalboard I see  big_smile
I've got one, currently got 4 boss pedals, a crybaby and a VP JR on there. And I've got two MXR pedals on the way. Still have room for more.
Plus, the power supply is fantastic! The 18v (although not in use on my board at the moment) is a great addition, need to get myself a fulltone pedal me thinks.

Yeah Jimi! Well as said before the Gatorpedals are awesome.
I run my OCD on 18V....sounds like heaven!

I am all about Pedaltrain.  Affordable, tough as nails, and easy to make a neat setup.  I run mine with a BBE Supacharger.

I'm planning to build my own pedalboard. The case is already done.
I might use the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 (as recommended in another thread) for the power supply. It looks rather big, so how do you attach it to the board? Is velcro strong enough?
On my old board I use velcro for my pedals but I'm not entirely happy with that. Any other suggestions?

The PP2 is the nuts- Pete Cornish actually recommends it and it's so versatile. For my vintage muffs and stuff I use it with a gigrig virtual battery between it and the pp2- the virtual batt is awesome- replicates the characteristics of a worn PP9 (8.3v output etc) althought the PP2 has a SAG button which allows you to do something similar also.

Attaching it to the board- top mounted- velcro fine. Underneath- velcro NOT fine- so use a couple of large cable ties. If you have a pedal train then there's a bracket (I found it useless and used cable ties instead!!) TBH if you're moving your board around a lot I'd use cable ties as well as velcro.

One thing to remember- the PP2 uses a kettle lead in- when planning the board make room for the mains lead! If you need 2 PP2's (as I do sadly) then you can daisy chain them together as the PP2 has a kettle lead out too. Very neat- can also be used to power something like a SIB varidrive

i used to have one of those gator boards, but like an idiot i brought it without the supply and when i wanted the supply they wanted £100 for it!!

i didn't like the angle of the board, was uncomfortable to use my wah like that. i'm currently sorting out my pedal setup to include a dual looper. this will have a clean side and a dirt side. so i can setup my clean sound with a dynacomp and then switch straight over to my drive pedals, which will be a barber LTD clone and my tubescreamer. save the tap dancing and i can cue sounds if i want.

so my chain will go


                       Loop1> Dynacomp
guitar>looper>                             >Boss DD-3>Boss TU-2>Amp
                       Loop2>TS9>LTD

Simple and not confusing. so i thought the pedaltrain would suit this. though i don't use a wah anymore, so the gator might be a win too.
