Topic: The UNION
A new band to keep an eye on in coming weeks is The Union. Comprising Luke Morley (ex Thunder) on guitar, and Pete Shoulder (ex Winterville) on guitar and vocals, supported by other great musicians like Chris Childs (ex Thunder), they have been recording an album of original blues rock of the highest quality. Luke is one of the most underrated songwriters in rock music, and no mean guitar player, while Pete has a voice like Paul Rodgers or David Coverdale in their prime.
Pete is one of only three British artists (the other two being Eric Clapton and Peter Green) to win a WC Handy Blues Foundation award.
I’ve been fortunate to see and hear most of the recording process, as I’m photographing the whole beginning to end story of the album, and I have to say that it sounds stunning. You can catch them on Planet Rock tomorrow (Friday) between 6pm and 10pm when they’ll be launching their debut single ‘Step Up To The Plate’.
They are also doing a tour of the UK in April, from the 10th to the 21st and if you get a chance I thoroughly recommend you check them out.
