thanks murfdog, sounds awesome. i know what you mean about Sloe Gin. sometimes i can't even think about the song without getting weepy.

anyway if anyone gets a chance to talk to Joe can you please ask him if the lyrics in Lonesome Road Blues are 'devil race car' like the parts that 'like a devil race car? these old blues comfort me'
thanks!

Yes, I am 99.99999% sure that the words are "like a devil race car baby, lonesome road......"

Maybe Joe is talking about my BMW M3/25 racecar....Two of the greatest sounds in the world are...A BMW 6 cylinder at 7000 rpm and a Les Paul 6 string with JB at 7000 rpm!!!!!

Cars & Guitars....Now lets ROCK IT!!!!!

Re: Murfdog Oregon show reviews begin!

Well, we only had a one hour drive to the Portland and Eugene shows...Bend was a little longer at 2 and a half, but we traversed the length of the state to get to the Medford show...about 4 hours each way....We were, howerver, richly rewarded with what may have been the best of all the Oregon shows. Highlight of the show.....Joe breaking a string about 3/4 the way into his now 10 minute plus version of "Woke up Dreaming" and hushing the out of control audience so he could keep time while Dave, his Ace guitar tech, brought him a a new axe. Other highlights include the drum work in "Happier Times"..Did I mention Bogie is pretty good?! Also, the ending solo on " Lonesome Road Blues" was a extended and pretty cool. Lots of diehard Joe fans in Southern Oregon helped to make this the 3rd sellout in the 4 venues he played. The band was set up a little deep on the already deep stage, putting them a little further away from us than in previous shows, however he came to the edge of the stage several times with his wireless setup, so it was still pretty awesome.
Here's the setlist:
Ballad of John henry
Last Kiss
So Many Roads
So, it's Like That

Murfdoggie, It was great meeting you last night, sitting and standing with The BlueMistress and myself on the front row of the Craterian Theater in Medford.
I am way jealous that you got to experience all 4 Oregon Shows.
You got it bad dude!

"Review for Oregon show #2....Portland/Aladdin Theatre/about 750 seats......Well, ladies and gents, this show was one for the books. First off, he was very proud that this show sold out in 3 days and remembered fondly (lol) the time back in '02 when he played to only 20 people!!"

That '02 show at The Roseland Grille, was my Bona-Baptism, after hearing Bob Ancheta interview Joe on the Sunday Night Blues Show on KGON.
Me and the other 19 souls, were treated to ANDY, as SILT was not released yet. We could tell that Joe was the real deal.

The show on Tuesday Night confirmed once again that Joe and the Band are extremely gifted musicians that give 110% every night.

Thanks for sharing your reviews on the Oregon shows.
Email me when you get a chance.

He has landed on american soil with one mission....To amaze us with his skills....the best Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter there is on the planet. Have I gone too far?.... I think Not. The 2 hour 10 minute set boasted 19 songs that left the audience breathless and speechless.
The set list:
Ballad of John Henry
Last Kiss
So Many Roads
So it's like That
If Heartaches were Nickles
Further on up the Road
Sloe Gin
Bridge to Better Days
When the Fire Hits the Sea
Lonsome Road Blues
Happier Times

Great Flood
Blue and Evil
Mountain Time
Woke up Dreaming
Young Man Blues
Encore:

The highlights of the show for me "Sloe Gin" in which the opening solo brought grown men (and women) to tears. "Blue and Evil" and the Who's "Young Man Blues" both rocked with fire and passion....and "Woke up Dreaming" was longer and crazier than ever...."WOW" was the operative word. The 600 or so gathered at The McDonald Theatre in Eugene experienced Joe at his finest...the band was spot on despite Carmine sporting an eye patch due to recent surgery...Joe Joked "He's got the GOOD drugs" We were also lucky enough to get to see Joe at the meet and greet prior to the show after watching the sound check on a remote monitor..he was gracious and relaxed and generally a really nice guy. There were only 9 of us so it was intimate, informal and unrushed. Wow, 1st show of the US tour, first row seats, and a meet and greet. Talk about the perfect Joe Bonamassa storm. We are gluttons for punishment so we are heading to Portland tomorrow for show #2 then on to Bend on the 7th and Medford on the 9th....We shall report back all that is Bonamassa.

WOW! Is definitely the word: Or at least one of many words I can think of. Joe was simply AWESOME in Eugene on the first night of the "Black Rock" tour. He was in perfect form throughout and from front row center it was AMAZING! After seeing hundreds of bands together over the past thirty-five years my good friends "Murphdog" and "Kent the Oregoniac" continue making times like these(better than ever) possible. Thanks guys! I look forward to the next show! I will say that after all these years and all the concerts, nobody ever brought me to tears, however Joe did just that with "Sloe Gin". What a great and moving rendition of his song he played that night (I'm sure every night). Joe was also very approachable and thanks to my friends we enjoyed the "Meet and Greet" where Joe answered questions, signed autographs, took pics, and was a "regular Joe" with his fans. This was such a great overall experience for us all. ) And by the way I drove from San Diego to Eugene just for this show) Thansk again to my brothers Murphdog and Kent the Oregoniac. Peace! For now....
