A PRS for an Epi sounds like a good trade for me. When both parties are happy with - what more can you ask for? It's a cool thing that your son still likes the Epi although it's not in mint condition anymore. He did the "aging job" on it, it got repaired, he still wants to play it. The playability didn't suffer, the guitar just gained some character. Young guys often think that only new things are cool...
Interesting to observe how the G.A.S. always finds a way. Let them put a ban on buying new guitars - we'll trade. Let them put a ban on trading - we'll build our own guitars. Let them put a ban on building our own guitars - don't know what we'll do (yet).
