Re: Chris Duarte & Bluestone

Me and my SO will be seeing this show at Ram's Head in Annapolis on Sunday....can't wait to see him with Bluestone....these guys are killer blues players, check out the CD "396" for a sample.....I think most of the folks here would really enjoy it.

I'll try and give a review sometime early next week.

It's a bit late and I have to get to bed, but I just want to say "WOW!" and go see this show if you can.  With dual (or dueling?) excellent guitar players and an amazing rhythm section.....this exceeded my expectations after hearing the CD which rocks.

Don't miss it....it's a small window of opportunity.

Re: Chris Duarte & Bluestone

Saw Chris and Bluestone together about a year and a half ago and like Carl, I had to pick up my jaw from the floor after they started playing. With Toshi on slide guitar and Chris on his usual lead, it was an extraordinary combination. Yoshi, the bass player, is also excellent. They played for about 3 hours and 20 minutes over two sets. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Don't miss this opportunity!

Re: Chris Duarte & Bluestone

I saw these guys last night in Annapolis with CarljMD - I was blown away. They were intense and you could tell they really put everything into what they were playing. Very talented musicians with a great sound. My jaw is still dragging on the ground. Thanks Carl for bringing me along.

Re: Chris Duarte & Bluestone

I always loved Chris Duarte's guitar style and his tone. Met him a few times in the 90's. I believe he plays with pretty heavy strings, that I'm sure would rip the ends of my fingers off!!! I have seen some videos of him playing in Japan. Those are cool.

Re: Chris Duarte & Bluestone

I have seen Chris Duarte play a few times. He's great. Did you know that he played with Craig Erickson and played on one of Craig's cds? The cd  is called Force Majeure and he played on songs "Wild Cat" and "Everywhere"

Re: Chris Duarte & Bluestone

Can you believe it? I have yet to find someone who wants to go to this show with me:

Tickets in advance are only $12. Sure, I know it's a 100 mile drive into downtown Chicago, but don't these people know what they're missing? Like I said, UNBELIEVABLE!  roll

Re: Chris Duarte & Bluestone

Saw Chris and Bluesone last saturday 3/6 @ Mals lounge in Haverhill Ma.http://www.georgesonwashington.com/
It was my first time seeing Chris and my first time at this venue.  The place holds around 100 ppl and
was just about full . The show started at 9:00pm and Chris had the crowd fired-up within
minutes . His band Bluestone are a tight unit and Chris really feeds off them . Can't say enough about Toshi
the other guitarist in the band . His fingers are as fast as  Chris's and he plays a mean slide . It was
really like having 2 great lead guitarists on the same stage. Yoshi on Bass was layin down the funk  and
having a great time prancing the stage. The drummer Taizo had some heavy beats for such a simple
looking drumset .
The first set they tore through an hour and a half of high energy blues with most songs coming from their
latest cd 396 They took a short break and came back and played for another hour and a half. Everyone
was having a blast with lots of dancing and grooving in front of the stage. I wasn't familiar with alot of Chris's
songs before this show because I only have the "Blue Velocity" cd , but it didn't matter I was an instant
fan of almost every song he played. He's not only a great guitar player but a very good singer also . And
again Bluestone rock ...catch these guys if you can ..it's a great nite out..
  The setlist was...
                               Funky Mama
                                Chattahoochee side
                               People Say
                                396
                               The best I can do
                                 Silverspoon
                               Me n' You
                                 Kohima Ridge
                                My Way Down
                               Cleo
                                 Like Eric
                                Back in town
encores .. Back in the USSR and Valle Colorado

                                                                                  JBrules/ Paul

Re: Chris Duarte & Bluestone

Nice review of the show Paul!  smile  Yes, those guys cook together. Unfortunately, I never did make it to the Chicago HOB show, but I do have a bit of a keepsake from the one and only time I saw them together. Here it is:

That was taken between sets and you can see how sweated up Chris was. I hope to get that one signed someday.  cool
