Re: Vancouver 2010

The chance for a Canadian Gold in  Hockey will be very hard from now on. They have not shown the ability to do it so far. Russia will be a huge hill to climb.

HOLY CR*P!!!  The Dutch will never recover! George must be taking gas!! Poor Kramer forgot to change lanes somewhere along his skate to an easy Gold medal!! He'll never live this down. His father is a National skating hero as well. My sympathies!!!   Cathy

(sympathy appreciated by your ed., who corrected the name, since this was the most nailed-on gold medal imaginable....)  sad

Typical ManU arrogance....

God, what a terrible blunder by Kramer, who would otherwise have won by a small street - never happened to him before - he'll never live it down either. Rotten night for my Austrian skiers too, finishing 4,5,and 6.  sad

Re: Vancouver 2010

I have to say, that I'm loving some of the newer winter Olympic sports. Especially the snowboard/ski cross stuff. It's a lot more exciting (to me) to see four people racing each other on a steep, high bank track than it is watching them race to clock. Although I have been enjoying the downhill skiing this year, that track is fast and dangerous!

Re: Vancouver 2010

Have to agree with Ken, the Ski Cross Event has been tremendous, and great to watch. To have four competitors battle it out... at the same time!

Marvelous smile

I guess I'm more of a traditionalist because the snowboard events and the ski cross do nothing for me. To me it's not even close to the excitement of watching the downhill - men's or women's.

I guess. it's .... timing against the clock, verses who's first over the finish line in a group of four.

Definitely it's horses for courses.  I really love the snowboard/ski cross stuff cause the Americans rule.  Shaun White is a snowboard god!  One question though...where's the freakin' attraction for curling?  I'd rather watch midget wrestling!

Re: Vancouver 2010

I am going to agree about curling Curby. Of course, people watch golf too so......... The funny thing about snowboard sports is that so many of the best come from skateboarding and surfing. No snow in skateboard land but the crossover is a natural since the moves and gravity feel are very similar. San Diego County is a hotbed of talent for that discipine.

I'm proud to say that the American Ice Skater Rachael Flatt is from my high school! We sent her off last week with a very exciting and patriotic ceremony. We were very proud to watch her skate last night and no matter where she places it's pretty cool  cool  .

Just thought I'd post it lol

I was wondering if you knew her.  She did very well last night, and she is still so young.  Hopefully she stays with it - can't imagine the time and expense her family has put into this, plus isn't she going to Stanford next year?  Brains, too.

Yeah she's been accepted to Stanford. She takes 5 AP classes here at the school right now and knowing the teachers... they're not easy! She's one of the top students in the senior class i think... pretty impressive!
