Topic: Craig Erickson "New Earth Blues"

This guy seems to have a similar style to Joe B. and Eric Gales. He mixes heavy 70's blues rock with some serious guitar chops. Titanic Planet is a killer song somewhere between Kings X and Mountain. He also covers songs by Peter Green and Free.
BTW, Craig collaborated on an album with Glenn Hughes in 1994 called Glenn Hughes Blues. He and Glenn wrote all the songs and there were some other killer guest guitarists including Richie Kotzen, John Norum, and Warren DeMartini.
It will be very interesting to see where Joe and Glenn go with the "Black Country" project. Hopefully, it will be along the lines of intense heavy side of "G.H. Blues"

Re: Craig Erickson "New Earth Blues"

Is that album a new release?  I have CE's album Shine which is excellent blues/rock.  Glenn Hughes sings on the fine Tommy Bolin cover of "Wild Dogs".

Hi Curby, This album was released in January of 2010. Only a month old. Porch of Planet Pluto is another good one where he sings a song about the Czech Village where his music store was lost in the flood of 08. Its called Little Village. Check that song out some time. Thanks for the inquiry. If you want a cd I can sell one to you.

Re: Craig Erickson "New Earth Blues"

Sounds interesting and a bit offbeat, which makes it even more interesting. Think I shall try and track down a copy.

Letcha have feedback in due course.

No Hits, No Hype.......................Classic Rock Jan 2012

Re: Craig Erickson "New Earth Blues"

Maybe there's some people on here who don't know who he is, but if you haven't seen Craig play live you need to check out some live stuff on you tube. Here are three of the best titles.
1. "Understanding" Live in France Craig Erickson
2. "Red House" Live in France 2007 fusion/blues Craig Erickson
3. "Shawn Lane Tribute concert clip with Jeff Sipe/Craig Erickson
There are some great live stuff in Germany too.

Besides Joe B. and Craig E. I am also a big fan of Chris Duarte, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Johnson etc...Cheers!

Sorry, but I forgot to check back to this thread till today.  I promptly picked up New Earth Blues and the great song you mentioned, "Little Village".  Craig Erickson plays the guitar the way I like - with real emotion and a little growl.  I didn't realize his catalogue was so extensive.  This shout will be expensive me thinks.....

Re: Craig Erickson "New Earth Blues"

start to finish i think the "shine" album is one of the finest displays of electric guitar playing of all time.  i love craig, but in my opinion that is his only great album and i have almost all of them.
