Re: Moscow Setlists

Greetings from snowy Moscow (a total of 400,000 cubic meters of snow have been removed from Moscow streets in the past 24 hours). Apologies I have to post under a different user name - I don't have access to my email to retrieve the old password.

This is my short review of the two shows in Moscow on February 20 and 21.

It's been a little over a year since Joe's last visit to Moscow and his 2-nights residency at the International Performing Arts Center. This year marks another two shows at the same venue.

Despite ridiculously expensive ticket prices ($100 average), both nights were 90% sold-out. The audience was very appreciative, especially during the quiet parts, but went absolutely nuts towards the end of the show (on Just Got Paid very few people remained seated).

Joe and the band were stellar. Passionate, excited to kick-off the new tour and premier the new songs (which is always a challenge when you don't have a new CD released yet). The second night felt more relaxed as Joe's got used to the tricky acoustics of the venue which usually hosts classical music concerts. As you will see below, we also got treated with two extra songs, i.e. "Bridge To Better Days" and "Woke Up Dreaming".

The definite highlights for me were "If Heartaches Were Nickels" with the extended breath-taking solo; punchy "So It's Like That"; the acoustic "Woke Up Dreaming" which left the audience speechless; Joe's vocal acrobatics on "The Great Flood"; and the four new songs which work perfectly in the live setting. My guess is that "Three Times A Fool" and most noticeably "Bird On A Wire" are destined to become live set regulars. And what a clever choice to mix Bird on a Wire with Just Got Paid for the encore!

The setlists for both nights were as follows:

February 20, 2010 (Running time - 1h50):

1. The Ballad Of John Henry
2. Last Kiss
3. So Many Roads
4. Three Times A Fool
5. If Heartaches Were Nickels
6. Further On Up The Road
7. Sloe Gin
8. Lonesome Road Blues
9. Happier Times
10. Steal Your Heart Away
11. When The Fire Hits The Sea
12. The Great Flood
13. So It's Like That
14. Mountain Time
15. Young Man Blues
- Encore -
16. Bird On A Wire
17. Just Got Paid

February 21, 2010 (Running time - 2h03):

1. The Ballad Of John Henry
2. Last Kiss
3. So Many Roads
4. Three Times A Fool
5. If Heartaches Were Nickels
6. Further On Up The Road
7. Sloe Gin
8. Bridge To Better Days
9. When The Fire Hits The Sea
10. Lonesome Road Blues
11. Happier Times
12. So It's Like That
13. The Great Flood
14. Woke Up Dreaming
15. Mountain Time
16. Young Man Blues
- Encore -
17. Bird On A Wire
18. Just Got Paid

Have fun at the upcoming shows, guys. I'm sure it's going to be even more exciting as Joe will be adding more new songs. This tour is going to be huge!

Jacob.

EDIT setlist Night #2: "Steal Your Heart Away" was on the original setlist I got from stage but in fact was not played.

Re: Moscow Setlists

Thanks for the review and set lists Jacob! Some more new songs added there!  smile

Re: Moscow Setlists

Thanks for all the details Jacob. We've had massive snow here this year too. But, I like it! You have to wait much longer than most for a show, so I'll remember that next time I feel like whining about my wait for the next Joe fix! Stay warm. Spring is nigh.   Cathy

February 20, 2010 (Running time - 1h50):

12. The Great Flood

It seems to me, instead of a song "The Great Flood", the song "Blues Deluxe" has been executed
