Topic: The Union

There's a new blues rock band on the block.  The Union - comprising Luke Morley on guitar (ex Thunder), Pete Shoulder on vocals and guitar (ex Winterville), supported by Chris Childs on bass (ex Thunder) and Phil Martini on drums (Quireboys) - play their first ever gig tomorrow night at the Relentless Garage in London.

I had the privilege of seeing, listening to and photographing a full rehearsal session yesterday and it sounded fantastic.  They sound a little like very early David Coverdale (before he went all commercial and started screaming) or Paul Rodgers.   Unpretentious, but dripping in quality.  Add to that, Luke is one of the finest writers in the business, resulting in some very original classic rock.

Can't wait to see them on stage tomorrow night.

Re: The Union

Good tip Marty,
read about the band some time ago and heard a coupla clips via Classic Rock. Is this the only gig or do they have some others planned? I'm in the UK over the weekend and would love to see Luke playing again.

Re: The Union

This is a one off gig this time.  However, they have also been recording with a view to releasing an album next year, and I guess they'll put together a tour to support that.

Re: The Union

Looking forward to a cd release. I was a big Thunder fan and regret never getting over there to see them live.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

Re: The Union

They are touring in April when I am in Tenerife!! Cest la vie.

Re: The Union

I'd be very interested in getting their cd.  I'm a big fan of Peter Shoulder and Winterville and I have a bunch of Thunder's music.  If anyone gets a whiff of a release date and its availability I'd be greatly appreciative.

Re: The Union

I saw Winterville when they supported Thin Lizzy.

They had one of the best gig sounds I have heard in a long while...thundering bass, tight drums, ripping guitar.
Pete had a fantastic voice...

I am looking forward to any and all of this!
