Re: Avatar Speaker Cabs

i have an oval back 2x12 with eminence.  it sounds good.  lots of speaker choices, or get it empty & do your thing.  tell them how you'd like it done.  good value   cool

Re: Avatar Speaker Cabs

I had an Avatar open back 2x12 cabinet. It had a Celestion V30 and a G12H in it.  It was a good solid cabinet and sounded pretty good.  I got a great deal on a Dr.Z 2x12 which sounds a little better to me so I sold the Avatar to the other guitar player in my band.  He loves them and has two of them.  These open back cabs work very well with Fender heads although the Celestions add a little Marshall flavor.

So, doc, you had a speaker mix in it? Did that mix have more bottom end? Thats what I'm looking for. I also plan on pairing a 2x12 with a few low wattage heads. I have a feeling it will really bring them to life compared to using a 1x12 or 10. Some day though a JTM-45.

Re: Avatar Speaker Cabs

Yes. The G12H adds more low end. The combination of the V30 and G12H covers the low, mids, and highs very well.  I have the same speaker combination in my Dr. Z cabinet. I used this Avatar cabinet with several different heads (Splawn Quickrod, Dr. Z Maz 18, and Blackface Fenders) and it worked well with all of them.  This cabinet will sound much better and fuller than a 1x12 or 1x10.
