I may be in error but I don't think they have big mountains where downhill type skiing is done. Lots of hills though as I remember. Been there a couple of times.

To stay at least slightly on topic, Norway has hosted two Winter Olympic Games - '52 in Oslo and '94 in Lillehammer. Needless to say, they do downhill ski in Norway. And neither Oslo nor Lillehammer are located in the western half of Norway which is almost entirely mountainous. I remember them well.

Absolutely right Lee.
Norway always do well in the Winter Olympics, always finishing high on the medal table.

Man oh man! That downhill course the ladies ran looked scary to me. Steep, icy, choppy and rutted with huge air sections.
The local tv said that Ms. Vonn uses skis made for the mens' downhill. The only woman to do so.

I must be getting old. I'm as patriotic as you get, watching the mens halfpipe I was proud & embarrassed for my country at the same time. Representing your country on the international stage your pants are hanging halfway down to your knees. C'mon, show a little pride in yourself & your country, every American snowboarder was wearing there pants that way.

Yeah, that is how they sell to the market that goes for the gansta image. Did you notice the tunes they all play on ipod while they compete? I would find it distracting. Yes, we're getting old. There's hope though, my son is in his late 20's and thinks that is garbage and he is a snowboarder.

I don't really care how they dress (and to me it didn't look too bad), but I listened to Shawn White speak and he was very obviously proud to be representing his country. He also seems like an intelligent, polite young man.
Embarrassed??? I'd like an entire team just like him and am proud that he's representing our country.

Re: Vancouver 2010

I'm not saying he isn't well spoken or isn't a very talented athlete, but you are representing your entire country not just a small group. The part I'm embarrassed about is the dressing, how do other countries perceive us when they see us with our butts hanging out? If you wanna dress like that at home thats one thing, but this is the olympics for cryin' out loud.

UK has a winnnnnner in the winnnnnter.
Made a breakthrough in helmet tech for the edge.
The helmet was called a cheater but passed muster since the aero ridges were cast in the shell and not glued on.
Next time everyone will have them. Congrats to her.

I think the challenges of Amy's helmet, was a tactic to unnerve her.... In the end... the tactic didn't work.

Congrats, to Team USA who beat Canada in the Mens Ice Hockey  5 - 3 in the Group stage.

I don't follow Ice Hockey, as i find it hard to follow on TV... but i get the passion of the fans.

Of all the medals ..... Canada as a nation, needs this Gold.
