Topic: Traynor...severely underrated?

Hey guys, I've just come across a beauty of an amp - This Vintage 1970's (Hand-wired) Traynor YGM-3 1x12 combo I just bought sounds amazing...Has anyone tried these before?  I've been gigging with a Deluxe Reverb RI for years and when I plugged into the Traynor it sounded a bit like my Deluxe Reverb w/ a lot more bass and natural compression.  It has a Mojo Greenback-clone speaker, some nice JJ EL84s, and is around 20 Watts.  This thing sounds awesome when its cranked...

Oh yeah, and I paid $375 for it. cool    Especially when the Re-issue's (same specs) apparently go for like $1400???

I'm thinking that this would make a great stereo setup:

Deluxe Reverb + Keeley Tubescreamer = Great Mid-focused sound

and

Traynor + RC Booster/BB Preamp = Nice low end and highs

All split from the outs of my Eventide Timefactor - I have yet to get an A/B Box...do I really need one?

What do you guys think?  I haven't had too much time with the amp yet but I think I'm gonna love this Traynor.

Re: Traynor...severely underrated?

Sounds like a great 2 amp setup to me. Everything I've heard is that old Traynors are great amps.

Re: Traynor...severely underrated?

I have a Traynor YCV-40.......only about 4 years old but a killer amp.

Re: Traynor...severely underrated?

My brother bought(?) a newer Tray year before last and took it back.  Why?  It sounds too much like my Mesa.  roll  What's wrong with that?  I got one already...OK

Last year we wer at the church in the basement rummaging around in a closet and found one of those oldies.  Traynor that is.  Hory Clap what a sound.  Through 1 ratty old 12".

Then he did it stereo with a Blues Deluxe...I think Ken is right.  Go for it

Re: Traynor...severely underrated?

Tried the stereo setup today, definitely a cool sound - Only thing I don't like about the Traynor is that it seems to react amazingly different b/w my guitars, which I don't like.  It also has a weird low-mid growl that only sounds good w/ certain guitars, pedals, etc...definitely not what I expected from my first impressions of the amp.  Anyway, thanks for the replies!
