Re: Henrik Freischlader -New CD

Andre - you are so right about Henrik.  cool

I've been playing this album so much this week and I still can't get enough of it. It has a great mix of styles and several tracks remind me of some of the current younger crop of blues guys like Joe, Govt Mule, Aynsley Lister, Oli Brown, and Ian Parker.
For anybody with a love of good modern blues rock this album is a MUST BUY!
IMHO it stands up well against anything I've heard in the last five years - Joe included!
If anyone reading this has not yet heard the album, do yourselves a big favour and order it today.

Ian

PS - Andre - do you know if any UK dates are being considered?

Please be in no doubt that this is the REAL ME! Beware imposters........................

Re: Henrik Freischlader -New CD

Henrik Freischlader's new album is a career defining masterpice and though earlier recordings were well-received I think this new effort elevates him to a select group of guitarists.

Re: Henrik Freischlader -New CD

Yes good to see that more of you are getting into Henrik. I got his interview back and it's a very interesting read. One thing that is apparent is that he was heavily influenced by Gary Moore. I have to say though that I like his work more than I like Gary's!
I think his approach does vary a little from Joe's. Henrik very rarely records other artist's songs and with songs as good as these he doesn't need to. I hope he does come to the UK sometime later this year and I intend to tell promoters about him! smile

Thanks all of you for the support. I hope it will lead to a little tour in Holland, Belgium and the UK soon and some festivals next year.
( if there is interest please contact me and I'll tell Henrik, as we all know: Spread the word !)
He deserves it. For me he has a lot in common with Joe, same vision on music, blues, young, nice person, a bit sky and brilliant musicians.

I'm sure Pete Feenstra may be interested in booking Henrik - contact Pete at www.feenstra.co.uk

Re: Henrik Freischlader -New CD

If there are people out there keen to see Henrik, they I would suggest they pass on his agent's contact details: Robben www.falveymusic.com

I do think this bio about Henrik needs a better translator:

http://falveymusic.com/index.php?option … &id=26

Here's an excerpt -

Numerous performances with legends such as Blue Peter Green, Johnny Winter and Joe Bonamassa have Henrik Freischlader presented to a large audience, but there were also performances in front of a modest number of viewers who could be enormous, dense and intense, when the spark jumped over Blues was.
Curious No wonder then that the spark has been further supported, and the status of the insider more blues fans beyond Germany's. He has now earned a loyal audience in France, Poland, Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland. The questions are piling up, and one can only wonder where you will see Henrik Freischlader and his band in the future, everywhere and hear.

Re: Henrik Freischlader -New CD

On Friday 25 February Henrik's tour started in his home town Wuppertal in the LCB.
I'm glad that I arrived early enough to get a place in the first row directly in front of a micro with lots of guitar picks with other words I had a phantastic view though it was pretty loud.
This morning I was browsing through www.bluesmagazine.nl and realized that André was in Wuppertal on Saturday, so we missed each other but we'll see Henrik together in "Schwarzer Adler" on 7 May for one of the last shows.

It was a great tour start and a great start into the weekend.  lol
The band played all the songs from the new album, so we heard a lof of rocking as well as slow numbers. Especially the changes from slow to fast passages were played wonderful by Henrik. Hard to describe it as a non musician in a foreign language. If I find something on youtube I'll place a link here. Next to me the "Blues Papst", a blues enthusiast from Bochum, made a vid and I'm optimistic that he'll upload something.
But it wasn't only Henrik who made that evening, the complete band was great: Hardy Fischötter on the drums with a tribal drum solo, Moritz Fuhrhop on the hammond and Theofilos Fotiades on bass.
When looking around during the concert I could see a crowd rocking like one person and after the last song it lasted only seconds that we (the crowd) found a clapping rhythm to ask for an encore.

Attached is a link to the program of "Deutschlandfunk". There'll be a musical interview in the night of 2 March at 1:05:

Re: Henrik Freischlader -New CD

Yes Blues Sissi
I was there on Saturday and I agree with your words: It was a fantastic show!!
As you did a review already I won't do another one, people can read mine on www.bluesmagazine.nl with some pictures, setlist plus guitars he uses, interview with his guitartech Mark. If people are interested in more I can translate the whole review in the shows-item.

Some more about the show: The first 3 songs were recorded by SAT TV 1 for a breakfastshow today, too late to watch anymore but Michael Wedegaertner from the TVchannel and Henrik promised me to send me a DVD with those songs and when I get the DVD  I'll ask Marco to put it on www.bluesmagazine and this the forum. (He also told me that Joe is in that show somewhere in May!!)

You will see then why I love the man and his guitar so much, very familiar to Joe , alot of things in common: young, great players, same opinion about music and blues, same passion , same breakfastshow...,  same tour in germany in 2007 and  very nice, friendly  men who are there for their fans. Music and fans first, no glamour at all.

The sound was very good, warm, thick, wide. Henrik's latest CD was named: Recorded by Martin Meinschaefer and this Martin himself is the soundengineer on this tour! He told me that it was a difficult venue , because of the low ceiling with big ventilation tubes on the ceiling. Still he managed to get a great sound, respect!

Nice video's Blues Sissi, gives our Joefans an idea, and if JOE says he likes Henrik and his playing very much and who am I to disagree. So if people didn't believe about Henrik, believe Joe!!!!!

Marco and I  are working on a little tour in Holland in September/October this year so if people are interested please contact Marco or me on  www.bluesmagazine.nl

See you in Der Schwarzer Adler Blues Sissi , Joe played there 3 times , indeed a lot in common.

Re: Henrik Freischlader -New CD

Icon,
Robben from www.falveymusic.com is working on a UK tour in July but hard yet because most venues don't know Henrik , so spread the word if you like him!
Robben wil contact  Pete Feenstra, thanks for the tip!  The Charlotte Blues Club in London is interested  , so we have the first show in the UK if things work out right. Was there before and after the Joe Gibson tour and Bruno the owner said he wanted Henrik to play there.

Re: Henrik Freischlader -New CD

I just sent my completed interview with Henrik to the owner of Blues Matters today and got the following reply:

Well done and thank you. I really do like this guy, he has been played here at HQ over several days non stop and thoroughly enjoyed. His album is in our top 10- listening on web site now.
Yes I will schedule this now for BM 54 then covering July-August now.

Sounds like word is spreading, with 'non stop listening' becoming a common phrase... smile

Re: Henrik Freischlader -New CD

Thanks Duncan.

Was a fair review I thought. The most important bit, about how good he is, came shining through. Problems with the sound? Can happen of course. Hopefully it was just venue related. As he is fan of Gary's I just hope volume knob is under control! Still I always take my ear plugs these days.......

Have the CD on order and I will be seeing him at the Hamburg Downtown Blues Club, although if he is breaking through as this article suggests, that venue could be already too small for him!

Looking forward to it.

Re: Henrik Freischlader -New CD

Just needed to get this guys name back on the radar again.

I got his CD following the reviews and views of some of the Forum members here.

This is an absolutely breathtaking piece of work. There isn't a dud track on here whatsoever. HF is a guy you just can't pigeonhole either. Just when you think you recognise a familiar style of another player he changes gear and somehow it is completely different.

With the blues nothing is truly original anymore and yet I found this album to be inspiring in an original way. A lot of the time he sounds pretty low-key, both vocally and on the guitar but that is the magic of his subtlety, he is really attacking your conciousness all the time!

There are so many standout moments in this album. I am completely hooked at the moment on the track 'Desert Love' which I began to think was a song the John Mayer would have killed to have written and yet such is the climax to the song it could have been Ritchie Kotzen fighting him for it!

I have tickets for his Hamburg show. I am soooo looking forward to it now.

Thank you guys for showcasing this album and Henrik's talent. I said it in an earlier sentence so I shall repeat it again - Breathtaking -.

Re: Henrik Freischlader -New CD

Have just come back from Germany where Oli Brown and Henrik performed a double header at the near sell out gig in Nurnburg. Fantastic night, all went really well and what a great band Henrik has, such friendly guys.
Oli had met Henrik in 2009 and they had got on well, Oli enjoyed watching Henrik and likes the triple CD.
Henrik had contacted our agent before the 26 March gig and said that we could use all their backline, which was so generous of them and meant we did not have to carry too much on the plane (Simon's bass drum takes up 4 seats ! big_smile !)
It was a good musical night and the response to both artists was awesome, we hope to meet up with Henrik and the guys again sometime. I am assuming if you are reading this you probably have heard of Henrik, but maybe your friends have not, please pass the info on, they might like him too.
Happy Easter holiday.
