Re: forum time

I have to put in a +8 hour offset to get my local display to read close. It should be -8 hours if the input is correct. A mirror image.

Maybe you both should re-read my posts.  I'm telling you, where I live (EST), there is NO setting, including checking DST, that I can use that will make both my time AND date appear correctly.  And I'm not even talking about the 9-11 minutes right now, forget that.  And you don't have to post to test it... just update your settings screen, and the time and date fields on that screen will update.

Try the Nepal setting and tell me what happens... Toss a little computer hash into the game...

Nepal time puts me at 10:27 PM on Feb 14th.
When in actuality it was about 3:53 AM on Feb 14th.
By the way, all I have is scissor hash... but I swear that's not the problem!  tongue

Solomon Islands or the International Date Line West....danggit, one should put you close, although I think any "fix" we do in settings is a one day (and not 24 hours) deal at best.....  mad

Yes, I went into this in my posts...
Soloman Islands puts me at the correct TIME (even the am/pm is correct), but a full day ahead.  This is where I used to have it set, but the "today", "yesterday", etc on posts got too confusing.
And International Date Line West puts me on the correct DATE, but time is an hour ahead (less the 12 minute thing).  This is the one I have settled with.  It's as close as I can get.

First of all it's crazy that we have to make adjustments like this to make our times/dates appear right, but it's even crazier that NO setting makes it right for me.  And I've screwed with this on several different occassions and I assure you it's not ME.  tongue

Gotcha.  Sorry, I usually read posts, but this one is keeping me up at day... At least someone follows your actions and thoughts...I have IGNORED the time thing so long I never paid attention to it. And ACCIDENTALLY wandered into the muck, still don't know how my fingers went astray on that at all....
I tendered a possible solution(s) for admin(s), we shall see....or not! Maybe it's Joe's laptop or something...

I think it was in one of the Cheech & Chong flicks where Tommy uttered a favorite quote: "I'm not into time".  cool

Re: forum time

Hey, now that we've "sprung ahead" for Daylight Savings, my forum time is only off by the weirdo 13 minute thing... YAY!  big_smile
Of course I'm still set on International Date Line West, when I'm actually Eastern...  roll
And by the way, the weirdo 13 minute thing keeps gradually increasing... when I first mentioned it last Dec, it was 9-10 minutes... later on it was more like 11-12 minutes... now about 13... hence the "weirdo" description...  roll

Re: forum time

Holy crap, they've just fixed the forum clock!  Eastern time with Daylight Savings checked puts me at exactly the right time and date!  WOO-HOO!  big_smile
