Great, thanks for posting!  I will be at both those shows, and we fans always have some kind of pre-show meet-up... the more the merrier, and always good to put a face with a name... just check back with me closer to the time for specifics if you'd like to join us.  smile

Re: for our Pink Floyd fans: tour dates for THE MACHINE

I'm always up for a good pre-show meetup!!

I will most certainly be in touch with you. It's looing like the NJ show for sure. I don't live too far from there so that one is a must.

Bill, the way it works is, I would email you the flyer/poster docs (or there's a way to download them from the website now too), and you'd get your own printing done and distribute them in your area.  In exchange you'd get a pair of tickets to the show.  If you're interested in this arrangement, let's move this off the forum... you can email me at vikki515@comcast.net.
PS: Are you sure you want your address appearing on the forum?

Re: for our Pink Floyd fans: tour dates for THE MACHINE

I thought I remembered somebody here said they might be at tonight's Collingswood show... it was Forever Young... you still gonna be there?  I'm aiming to arrive in Collingswood around 6:00 (show starts at 8:00), and I might hit that closest bar down the street, the Catch It Grog & Grill... probably slightly beyond walking distance, but finding a parking spot in the venue's lot afterwards won't be a problem, as it's plentiful and free.  Not many of the regulars could make this one... only 2 that I know of, and both of them are questionable as far as making the bar before the show.  I am bringing a good friend with me though... just worked that out about an hour ago.  Anyway, Forever Young, I'll send you my cell number (hopefully my mickey mouse cell phone gets service/reception there... can't remember) and asuming you're going, maybe we can meet up.  Also, after the show I'm usually hanging out up by the stage waiting to talk to the guys.  I have long brown hair and I'm always in a tie-dye.

I also have an updated tour schedule to post... lots of exciting new dates just added... but I'll have to do that another day, as I'm in a hurry right now.

Re: for our Pink Floyd fans: tour dates for THE MACHINE

My taper friend captured last night's Machine show, and it sounds GREAT!  As a little teaser to make ya'll hit play and take a listen, I'll copy & paste part of the review I posted on The Machine's forum when I got home:

Over at The Machine's forum, I wrote:

AWESOME show tonight, guys!  Great setlist, amazing musicianship, lots of new and different jams, good sound mix, real pretty lights (could've benefitted from a bit more fog, but I'll bet that was the venue's call), cool video, very nice venue. One of those nights when it all just came together, ya know?

Set the Controls was OFF THE HOOK... from the awesome psychedelic intro, straight through all that fantastic and powerful drumming, to the smooth segue into Bring the Boys Back Home... wow, just WOW...  Quite possibly the highlight of MY evening, which is saying a lot, considering all the other great songs and jams we got throughout the night. Dogs for instance... loved that guitar work, Joe! But I knew it was gonna be a good night when the first set gave us 3 rarish songs in a row... What Do You Want From Me (I always welcome a Division Bell song), Cymbaline (beautiful as always... love those keys, Scott!), and Two Suns In the Sunset (always gotta add how perfect the Final Cut material always sounds, both musically and vocally). Oh and Todd, you know I have a thing for the Time drum intro, and I gotta say that was pretty damn perfect tonight! Both the Money and the Young Lust jams were fresh and very cool. I was also happy to close out the night with Any Colour>Brain Damage>Eclipse, as I love that sequence (especially Any Colour) and it was right for the mood of the night, as opposed to The Trial sequence or something... good call there.

Re: for our Pink Floyd fans: tour dates for THE MACHINE

I followed Vikki's instructions and am sitting here at my computer listening to this recording....these guys are amazing.

It's really done well and sounds *just* like the record.  If you are at all a fan of the Floyd, I would strongly recommend seeking out a show.

No, but where were you when they played with the San Diego Symphony back in Aug 08?  As a matter of fact, my taper friend Keith just got done posting that it was the best Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun he's ever seen (in response to my praise of it in my review of last Friday's show).  Well anyway, maybe they'll get back out there, "one of these days"... wink

Re: for our Pink Floyd fans: tour dates for THE MACHINE

It sounds just like the record, until they decide to JAM!

Yes! What Vikki said. These guys are such talented musicians. Yes, they happen to play 'quote, unquote' Pink Floyd music, but they know just when to add their own jams and twists. If you enjoy MUSIC at all, go see The Machine. You will find yourself either singing along or shaking your head and laughing at how good they are. I did it the first time I saw them, and I've done it at every show since. Last April in Pittsburgh, I think they could've played One Of These Days 5 times and I wouldn't have cared. It was just so powerful. Someone on The Machine website worded it this way...the student has eclipsed the teacher.

Bill, the guy who just posted that^ statement I underlined above was OJ, and coincidentally, he's the one who first turned me on to Joe Bonamassa a few years ago... so people here should be able to trust his musical judgment!  I remember he raved about Joe and sent me some discs (also some Sonny Landreth and others), and later on that summer when I saw Joe was playing Harrisburg I figured I should go check him out myself, and I've been hooked ever since! smile

Missed it! Now I know they do get out here. That was in the Summer Pops series at the waterfront outside venue. Mostly symphonic productions but they do book a few other acts.  Oh well.... Next time.

Re: for our Pink Floyd fans: tour dates for THE MACHINE

Copied from The Machine's news page:

Dear Machine Fans,

Unfortunately, the Machine's show on February 12th, 2010 (this Friday) has to be rescheduled due to inclement weather. The Pittsburgh area is currently under a winter storm advisory that will last through the week, and Mr. Smalls has determined that, for the safety of all persons involved, the show needs to be rescheduled.

The new show date is May 22, 2010, and if you have already purchased a ticket for Friday's show your ticket will be good for the May 22nd show. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

I especially feel bad for bill darragh, as he put his efforts into streetteaming for this show, plus put in for a vacation day for it.  sad   Eh, winter weather... whadaya gonna do?  hmm

Hey Vik, don't feel too bad for me. Now instead of the show being over, we have May 18th to look forward to. And I did get my vacation day back! Thanks for the good vibes though! I just e-mailed you some videos of Walter Trout and Get The Led Out. As I am typing this we are getting another possible 6 inches of snow. Blah.

Bill, you mean May 22nd... better mark your calendar for the right day, because we owe you a pair of tickets!  wink

As for Walter Trout, I have become familiar with him through this forum, but I do not yet own any of his material nor have I seen him live... but yes, he's good, right down my alley.  cool

And yes, I've seen Get The Led Out several times now... they are GOOD.  I've even streetteamed for them, and I only do that for bands I really think people need to go see, lol.  (In fact that reminds me, they're coming back to the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg on 4/16, and I need to contact their manager soon about streetteaming... last time the weeks slipped by and I was too late. roll )  But anyway, I'd say it's not that difficult to duplicate Zep musically, assuming you have some talented musicians.  But Plant's vocals are pretty tough to duplicate, and they are such an important part of Zep's sound, almost like some unique instrument in my opinion... well GTLO has the vocals down too, probably what makes them stand apart from most other Zep tributes.  Their goal is to sound exactly like the albums, and they do it well.  Where they differ from The Machine is, they do not go off on their own jams at all.  But I'd definitely recommend that Led Zep fans catch a Get The Led Out show if they ever get the chance.
