Re: chantel mcgregor

Hi,

Confusion!!!!!!

You’re right, they are studio recordings on MySpace, but they’re from before I started Music College.

I’ve recently finished a degree in popular music and graduate on November 5th, and any works created whilst studying and prior to my graduation can potentially be claimed as copyright of the educational establishment, it’s in the small print. That’s why there are no recordings and no originals in the set; I’m literally starting with a clean slate on November 6th!!!!!! In the meantime, the only things that are out there are the live performances and the Youtube videos, but next year?

Mmmm, next year, interesting things in the offing, including a coincidence. Going back three years, a good friend of mine and yours was gracious enough to take a chance and let me share a stage with him at Manchester Academy 3, something I’ll never forget and will always treasure, yesterday it was confirmed I’m headlining the same venue on Friday, 26th February 2010.

Re: chantel mcgregor

Hi Chantel,

Thanks for the clarification.  One question though - can you ask for permission to use your old music or re-record the songs for future endeavors?  I say this because unlike most of your Youtube videos which are mostly blues covers, the MySpace stuff leans more towards pop.  I found those songs very original and along with the unique way you interpret classic blues puts you on the fast-track to stardom.
Good luck after a couple of weeks - I'll be looking for your first album in the near future.

Re: chantel mcgregor

Chantel - Pete Feenstra told me he has booked you to play some of his venues next year - is that correct? - for those interested in seeing some great live music around South London and Kent, check out www.feenstra.co.uk - the likes of Jo Shaw Taylor, Jesse Davey & Friends (The Hoax) and Aynsley Lister are playing during November.........get out there and keep music live.....

Re: chantel mcgregor

Hi,

There are some nice songs amongst the old stuff so there’s a possibility I might rework some of it, time’ll tell.

South London & Kent? I spoke to Pete a while back but at the moment there’s nothing booked. Since then though I’ve started working with a promoter who’s putting dates together to avoid what he calls a "yoyo tour”, where the gig locations look like they’ve been drawn out of a hat, have a look at some band’s tours and you’ll see what he means! So at the moment there’s nothing scheduled for the area but that’ll probably change. Having said that, in March I’m playing Friday and Saturday with the band at a festival in France, and then the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday solo in Scotland, but that’s just me really wanting to do the support slots in Scotland for someone I’ve never seen before but like! Women’s prerogative?

Re: chantel mcgregor

I may well attend - Icon mentioned on the Aynsley Lister forum that Oli Brown, Jo Shaw Taylor and Virgil & the Accelerators are playing the Jazz Cafe on the same night, which is a shame, as I'm sure many blues fans would like to go to both. Luckily, I can see Oli & Co at another London venue on another night.....................

Re: chantel mcgregor

Yes, it's a shame they clash. Hopefully some of you can see Chantel on that date and Oli & Co on the other night they play London!  smile

Re: chantel mcgregor

We've been following Chantel since we first saw her at Burnley Blues a couple of years ago - she might say stalking.  Hi Chantel.  My old school friend was really impressed at Darwen.  We try to take someone new every time we go to see her.  Don't know if anyone got to Skegness but she took the place by storm.  It was all anyone talked about the following day.  And of course she got to play alongside Debbie Bonham which she really enjoyed.

All I can say is tell everyone to see her while she's still playing smaller gigs.  She won't  be for long.  She's now playing several of her own songs each time and they really are good.

Chantel thanks for playing I Can't Make You  Love Me.  It brought a tear or two!!

Hope you've all got your tickets for Manchester Academy on Friday.

Hi Kay....Chantel certainly is wowing the crowds! I also heard that she took Skeggy by storm!

She really knows how to rock and I also love the acoustic ballads....I Can't Make You Love Me is indeed very beautiful.

I can't make it on Friday but I know Geoff is going. Have a great time.

Tripsy smile

Re: chantel mcgregor

Talking of taking festivals by storm, Chantel did exactly this once again, this time at the Cambridge Rock Festival last weekend. Unfortunately for me, I was only able to go on Sunday, and Chantel had played her set at midday on Saturday.

As soon as I arrived, I went straight to the Blues Matters table to find out how Chantel had done. Not surprisingly, they told me that Chantel had blown them away completely. I expected this to happen, and no doubt we'll be reading about it in one of the next issues. The marquee continued to fill as Chantel began to play, and Chantel drew one of the biggest crowds of the four day festival, even from a midday slot.

Clearly, the organisers were not slow to realise what was happening before their eyes. Chantel's playing and singing, the crowd reaction to her, and the sheer size of the crowd that was filling the marquee. They moved quickly and immediately booked Chantel for CRF 2011. And she has certainly not been booked for another midday slot. I believe they have something else in mind for Chantel next year.

I was wearing my Chantel T-shirt on Sunday, and lost count of the number of people that had come up to me just to express how Chantel, and many of them had never heard of her 24 hours earlier, had completely blown them away the previous day. I guess this is what happens when you unleash Chantel at an unsuspecting crowd of music fans at a festival.

Chantel herself had stayed over to see a stormer of a set from Mostly Autumn close out the festival on Sunday night. When the organiser made his closing speech when Mostly Autumn had finished, he announced  to the crowd that Chantel McGregor had already been re-booked for CRF 2011. No other bands were mentioned for next year. And I was so pleased that Chantel happened to be in the audience to hear his words. It sounds like Chantel, undoubtedly, was the star of the festival.

Chantel will next be wowing the crowds at the Rhythm Festival in Bedford this coming Saturday. Chantel's big autumn tour starts at the beginning of September, and I can't wait.

Re: chantel mcgregor

Brack, could you put the where and when on the London Gig Guide thread and I'll update the diary. I want to make sure I see Chantel too.  big_smile  I guess I'll get a FB invitation from her soon but I want to make sure the date doesn't clash.  hmm

Cheers

Re: chantel mcgregor

She's playing the Pete Feenstra venues, Boom Boom Club, Sutton and Beaverwood Club, Chislehurst again in October - check out the dates here www.feenstra.co.uk - and by the way, if you like Chantel, you should try and get to see the W.T.Feaster Band, who are in the London area this week - I saw them last night and they were hot - Travis Feaster is another top notch guitarist, for sure, with the material to match.........tonight at the Bulls Head, Barnes, tomorrow at the Beaverwood Club, Chislehurst and Wednesday at the Jolly Farmers pub in Purley (near Croydon)
