The Who @ the Super Bowl (Page 1 of 3)

Yep, that's Ringo's kid. I thought the same thing, more Keith, not so much Ringo (in playing or looks). Bass player is Pino Palladino (John Mayer Trio).
I think they sounded good. Daltry was better than I expected. The last time I saw a live performance, his voice was lacking a bit, but he pulled it off tonight.

I like this new direction the Super Bowl is going with the halftime shows. Just get rock Icons, and let them play a short set. It's a no brainer (given the audience). Stop trying to jam in a bunch of lame dancing lip syncers and leave the live performances to the pros.
Who'd be a good choice for next year???

I thought it was a great half-time show...after seeing the drummer's cymbals I think a set of Captain America cymbals are in order for Bogie "Cap" Bowles!!!!!!!!!

Light show was fabulous.

edit.   I thought the ladies that sang the SSB and ATB were rather poor. Carrie struggled to find pitch. Her outfit did hold together though.

I've just asked the question, over on the Super bowl thread, how were "The Who"?  Now I know! Seen them live a couple of times, with Moonie and John. Superb live!

It was what it was, a spectacle. Daltrey's voice is shot and Pete's fingers aren't as nimble as they once were, but ya gotta love 'em. They're one of the alltime great "live" acts I've ever seen. The lights were off the hook, I understand the crew had 20 minutes to put that together and get it right, which they did flawlessly. I liked Zack's RAF logo cymbals complete with the Zildjian logo still clearly visible underneath. He covers the drum parts well, but there will NEVER be another Keith Moon. The crowd obviously "got it" as you could hear the multitudes singing along at points. Pete wanted to play 2 songs in their entirety and Daltrey wanted the medley and in traditional Who fashion they bickered over it like an old couple. All in all one of the best halftimes to date.

PS, somebody @ the get together I was at said the keyboard player is Pete's brother.....anybody know about this?

Wow, that's a nice light show and a nice performance too. Baba O'Riley still remains my favorite. I'm gonna watch it again and count Pete's windmills

Well, I'm glad Stu said it, I was a bit busy this morning to comment. But now that I have a moment....I too have been a very big fan of The Who dating way back. However, what was put on during the halftime show was unfortunately, not The Who that I remember. This halftime production is starting to remind me of some of the close minded FM "Classic" Rock stations that are around that are so deeply set in old Rockers music, that they don't play anything even remotely modern. What's next, halftime with the old age home?

Please, Daltrey can't sing anymore and neither can Pete Townshend. Too bad we can't get Joe and the Guys up there to kick some real tail during the show. The frickin' crowd's jaws would drop in one massive gaping stare followed by what I could only imagine as the most deafening cheers ever heard. Of course, I'm living in a world right now where so many people my age don't want to look past their nose regarding music. Oh well, maybe when I'm in a nursing home, they'll let me play my Joe CDs as loud as I want.

But hey, on the bright side, it was a good game and the halftime stage was pretty.
