So, anyone out there catch tcv on snl this weekend?....Saw one of 4 west coast shows they did earlier in the year and they rocked pretty hard....like a cross between Zep and QOTSA......Dave is such a great drummer! What do guys think? Anyone have an opinion on the new disc?
Being a massive TCV fan and seeing them live last year - this SNL performance isn't 100%
The sound mix is pretty terrible, while clearly it affected Josh from the start on-stage too. He wasn't hitting all the high notes as usual and looked sometimes quite uncomfortable.
JPJ looked like he was having a blast though...great smiles all round.
These studio guys are not good for mixing sound...cmon people, you're being paid huge amounts to get the sound right for the worlds best bands on a program that millions watch...and it's still not right.
Other "pro" or soundboard shows to check out (youtube etc) are Cologne Rockpalast, Canal Plus, Austin City Limits and Reading UK. The Reading one has good sound and some amazing playing.
Totally agree......what was the deal with Josh's vocal mix? I thought everything sounded good except the lead vocals.

Yeah... a mix of Zep and QOTSA, as you would expect, seeing who's in the band! I like the album, It does grow on one!

My neighbor burned me a copy and I gave it a try, but I don't even know where I put the damn thing, and I love the Foo Fighters. Just not my cup of tea.

Had a listen to my cousins copy. I love Zep and the Foo Fighters, but have not heard any QOTSA. I thought this album was terrible, with way too much Josh Homme. I was really looking forward to hearing it as well. Glad I didn't fork out for the concert and the CD.
My ears still haven't forgiven me 
I dont know.......I love ALL different types of music especially LOUD ROCK but so far the TCV cd isnt doin' it for me.......maybe a grower.
Well, I was lucky enough to see 'em at a small club and they were great, but as I said above, Josh is kind of a love him or hate him kind of guy. The disc really does grow on one if you can get thru the Josh thing.

Maybe I will give it another listen. It probably wasn't what I was expecting ( a Zep/Foo cross), but mainly because I am not too familiar with Josh Homme. A friend of mine went to their concert here last week and said they were fantastic. People who like them seem to realise that they are a love them/hate them sort of band.
