Topic: Newbie needing Mountain Time help

Hello all!

Newbie here. I posted a hello on the introductions page. This is only my second post so far, and was given the recommendation to ask my question here for some help. Just learning guitar and wondered if anyone knew the chords to Mountain Time. I'm interested in the intro too, but I can't play that yet. In fact, I may just have to strum the song at first. Working on it though! Thanks for everyone's help, and the warm welcomes. I have tried searching the posts for the info, but no luck yet. Maybe not doing it right? AHHHHHHHHH......Newbies!!!!!!!

Re: Newbie needing Mountain Time help

The song is in the key of "D".  Joe also tunes his guitar to drop D, or D-A-D-G-B-E for this particular song.  The main progression is basically a D, B, and C.  The intro starts off very Jimmy Page/middle eastern like with lots of D minor licks but then the main song changes to the above mentioned progressions.  The best advice I can offer, because I'm not educated on notation, is either wait for a more educated poster to answer or check out some live footage of Joe playing the song.  Watch his hands and listen for the note/chord changes.  There are a lot of little inflections that he uses and he never plays it the same way twice.  I like the North Sea Jazz Festival version the best, check it out on the Tube.

First person to suggest this link so far big_smile http://jbjhjm.spaces.live.com/ The .php of India/Mountain Time sounds pretty good there. I just started it last night, and so far seemed pretty accurate.

Thanks for all the help. This information really helps. Yea, I like the North Sea Jazz Festival, too. It gives a lot of closeups so you can watch him better. Awsome song! Just have to learn it. I've been making an effort at guitar for about 3 years, but with travel for work and other responsibilities, it hasn't been 3 years of everday practice. I'll get there! Thanks again!
