Topic: Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear

Not sure what other people's opinions would be on this, so I'm keeping mine as much as I can to myself, lol.

Not too sure of this 'Super-Group' lol

Vocals - Mary J Blige
Guitars - Orianthi, and Steve Vai
Bass - Randy Jackson
Drums - Travis Barker

Okay,,,, tell us what you think,,,
Surely can't be as bad as Rolf Harris', Haha

I just think, for the sake of Led Zep, and especially to respect John Bonham, they should NOT do this, I kinda think of it as a disgrace, but guess we'll have to wait to hear the finished product.

But just, AHHHHhH yikes, For the love of god (pun intended)

I'm gonna go cry now, lol

I had pretty much the same reaction. I really hope it will never reach my ears. I could be wrong, this could be a hit, but I hardly believe it...

Nothing is sacred.
It will be a tough cover of an iconic rendition. They will make money doing it imho.

Re: Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear

Well, I'd hope it would at least be better than Rolf Harris's version hmm

Re: Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear

Mary J Blige can sing with the best of 'em. I'm not necessarily a big fan of hers but that's mainly because I'm not into the hip hop thing. But I sure liked what she did with Bono and U2 on One.

If you've never seen it, check it out. The lady can flat bring it.

If for no other reason than this video, I'll be interested to give Stairway a listen.

Re: Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear

Personally, I think the song should be left alone.
And Steve Vai, should know better to be involved. IMO

Further thought on this, in spite of Mary Blige being a great voice, has brought on a bout of dispepsia. Where's the pink liquid?  roll

Re: Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear

ummm guys, with all due respect to all here, but how can you pass a verdict on something you haven't even heard? hmm

I'm not saying it will be any good (I haven't heard it yet either), but neither can I say with all honesty it wont be. neutral

Once it has been released.....well that is a different matter. wink

Just a by the by, but I would point out that Led Zepp liked the version that Rolf Harris made. Now that does not mean any one else should of course.

Our different opinions are part of what makes this forum so interesting and fun. cool

Zep can express their own opinion, whether it was true or not, was another story, but I think we can all rest-assured, state, that Rolf Harris became a self-atrocity in the making for making the @#!? of himself he did.

Again with reviewing something we havent heard.... Stairway is perfection in a song! It should'nt be covered live! Let alone RECORDED, by certain people we KNOW will not respect, and don't understand the true intensity that makes this song. From what I've heard from the people recording the song, (especially vai and blige) they seem to have no clue at all on how to approach the song, and it really should just be left alone,,, as Joe himself, says:

Some songs you REALLY can't do better than, which is WHY we should leave them alone, and when people use this fact, the song theyre really thinking of IS Stairway....
Not looking forward to hearing it anyway, I've heard some dreadful live covers of this, and mostly are by people with little knowledge of what they should/should not cover.
