Topic: My Not So Typical Friday

A very scary day for me  yikes

Indianola Police are searching for a man who tried to rob a bank Friday morning. Police say the attempted robbery took place around 9:15 a.m. at the City State Bank.

The suspect walked into the bank and gave a note to a teller. Authorities say the suspect left the bank without money and did not display a weapon during the incident.

Police describe the suspect as a white male in his late 20s with a slender build.

I'm going home and playing Joe and some more Joe..........

Re: My Not So Typical Friday

You must have a small town there Patty. Here in San Diego, bank robberies occur on almost a daily basis. Sometimes several per day. Just a part of the daily routine. The police even give them code names, like the current one, the Geezer Bandit, because it is a geriatric gentleman with an oxygen tank. You'd think they would have caught him by now but he's hit 3 or 4 banks. roll

It was my bank and I was the teller.  An experience I won't soon forget.  Glad my guardian angel was sitting on my shoulder.

Yes, your guardian angel was indeed on duty.  They train you for this and I'm sure you performed well.  NO money?! lol Hell I'd say FOILED the _________ (insert own swear word)!
I am NOT trying to be flippant either dear, as it happened to MY SISTER years ago, (as fate would have it Rick, here in San Diego).  She was freaked too, but what really ticked me off and hurt her feelings was the way the bank management treated her.  Hopefully yours has stood by you.  Hang in there sister!  Yes, big hug!

Jeez Patty, do ya think ya mighta left off a couple of key facts in your initial post there? tongue
Well I guess if you HAD to experience a bank robbery, thank goodness it was a relatively "mild" one... not to minimize the fear you must have felt or anything, mind you... but at least it didn't turn out worse!  Now, just tell yourself that you're crossing that off your "life experience to-do list" and moving on... got it? wink

"The security barrier"? Not sure what that is.
Have you ever been in a bank in the USA?  Most are totally open counters.

Thanks for the support guys and the humor. (You're right, I could have really brained him with my "lil Joe" )   My company has been very supportive of me (family owned bank) and I have gone over it a 1000 times in my mind....I think I threw him off because when he first stepped thru the door I greeted him and commented on how cold it was outside....maybe the human factor threw a loop in his mindset...anyway I am glad he lost his courage in the middle of it and chose to run out the door.

P.S.  Cathy, you are right about The Wing.  I have the picture of Joe & The Ginettes in my teller window cubbyhole always looking back at me.   wink  Angel on my shoulder....

A Security Barrier -- A steel sheet  that comes up and out from the counter. It's wide spread in the UK and Europe + CCTV. In France, as a security precaution, only allow 3 people in the bank at a time.
Or that was the case of the Bank i was trying to get into!

I have been in a bank in New York. Didn't seem to be any security at all, but I'm sure that is not correct!

Re: My Not So Typical Friday

Banks in the US just let the thieves take the money. Sometimes there is an exploding dye pack in the cash so when they get outside, it goes off and they and the money are covered in bright red indelible dye. The FBI and the police are very efficient at catching them here, about 99% end up in prison.

Re: My Not So Typical Friday

Many banks in "questionable" areas of Chicago are installing BR (bullet resistant) glass.
I guess the attorneys convinced them to rename that product....remember when they used to call it "bullet proof"?
